Probably some graphics issue.

If you accidentally turn it on in the future, right click on your osu! icon and hit "Show package contents" then go to "Contents > Resources > drive_c > osu!". Edit the file "osu!.pcname.cfg" in any text editor (TextEdit will do) and set the line CompatibilityContext equal to 0. Save the file and close the document and you should be able to start the game again.

It didn't help. It's happening whenever I play any beatmap.

EDITED: Nvm.. I found out that the skin I was using was crashing my game. (I was using BeastTrollMC's skin)

I have an extremely hard time reading English so I prefer to play games either in Korean or Japanese. When I try to change my language to.. one of them, it appears as boxes. I'm using macOS.

I've tried to search for a solution but none has helped, can anyone help me on here?

This was really helpful!! Ever since my computer updated itself to MacOS Mojave, I couldn't open osu at all... I just backed up the osu folder, installed the google drive folder, and restored the osu folder and it worked for me the only problem is the input lag now... but I'm just glad I got it to open right now.... phew! I thought I could never play again LOL

When doing a data backup it says delete all .dll files, (sounds dumb but) does this mean ALL .dll files(including the ones in the 'windows' folder or the just the ones in c_drive>osu?

So when I did that I got this error message, I uninstalled and reinstalled the way I had done before and it seems to have fixed itself.

I had the resolution set to 2560 x 1600 (native) so that the quality is clear and crisp. However, when using my tablet, the higher I set the resolution the less space I have to move my cursor around. It seems like once I set my resolution to 2560 x 1600, my cursor can only move within the top quarter of the screen (using the tablet). Any way to fix this?

I was having an issue that no one else seemed to have where osu! would quit immediately and the logs would not open (or maybe they didn't exist). In addition, any Wineskin changes I made would reset the minute I left the menu. To solve this I had to remove the quarantine attribute (which prevented osu! from writing) from the osu! app with this command:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /path/to/osu!.app

I hope that helps anyone having the issue I was having, because it took me over a year to figure it out.

Thanks for that command. It seems a lot of people also can't get osu! to open and I suspect that they haven't managed to get rid of the quarantine attribute either.

Something to note when you , make sure that your osu! application is not in your iCloud Drive. My desktop is linked with my iCloud and when I tried to open it, would not open. Make sure to keep the file somewhere actually on your computer.

pcname will be replaced with whatever the name of the on your computer is. If you have run the game successfully in the past, and you didn't intentionally delete that file, it will be in there. Just look harder.

Please read it carefully. The only thing it asks you to do is to replace the osu!.exe file which will not change any of your settings or songs.

So I am convinced it'll be updated on my end. I have done virtually anything. I'm just glad I got the game working again. I am a little sad, but thank you for your help. I appreciate it greatly.

Also, at the bottom, check that Swap Used is greater than zero.

Unfortunately, I'm not too sure what is going on yet but there are several options:

2. Test osu! with the first half
3. Test osu! with the second half

The swap is equal to zero

This is unlikely but if the swap is zero then the system may freeze due to lack of memory. You have to enable the swap if this is the case.

Check for disk errors

It is strange that it only occurs after shutting down.

1. Open Disk Utility
2. Select Macintosh HD from the left
3. Press First Aid and then Run (the system will freeze momentarily several times)

The results will report on any errors if there are any.

Use a newer Wineskin wrapper

There are currently two Wineskins that are more updated than my own Wineskin (the February unofficial release). I don't know what Wine engine version yours has but they might be worth using as the Wine engine is likely to be far more up to date.

When I used the previous wrapper, it would freeze immediately, so I did not know the memory of Wine.

The bug went away when I changed the wrapper to something that peppy created.
In that case, the memory of wine is about 450 MB

See the osu! or Wineskin will not open! section and follow the steps exactly.

After updating osu! yesturday, when I click to a beatmap (like on multiplayer) it opens my browser and does nothing, until a minute later it opens the site for it. This probably isn't your fault in any way, but would you happen to know what may be causing this, and how I may fix this? Many thanks.

Unfortunately I have no idea what causes this, but other players have reported success with using one of the newer wrappers listed on thread I've posted. If you decide to go this route, make sure to backup your data so you won't lose your replays or anything.

As already mentioned in this thread: https://osu-ppy-sh.tvgratuite.org/community/forums/topics/682197, Catalina is currently not available on the current Wineskins. Crossover is developing for Catalina but it's unlikely to come out within this year.

Heya! hmm I'm kinda stuck with my osu app, the version I currently use is quite old and I needed to update it to play online but I tried to the feb (2018) release but it just doesn't starts I tried with everything that fit to my problem in the post but it just doesn't starts up

I use the captain version of mac and the test run log just says this:
wine: cannot find L"unix\\s\\imac\\Desktop\\OS!\\osu!.app\\Contents\\Resources\\drive_c\\osu!\\osu!.exe"
hope you can help I really miss playing the game :c

Follow the steps under "osu! or Wineskin will not open!".

not sure if it’s just me, but discord rich presence isn’t working anymore. Every time I put discord-rpc.dll in the folder, it automatically gets deleted. Is there a fix for this?

Hello!, Im having problems importing skins into this build. I have my OSU up and running and it can open beat maps. I have tried to put the skins though the files and even tried to select them and say to open with osu but it does not work. Does anybody have a solution to this?

Move the .osk file to the Skins folder and then extract it manually. You can do this by renaming the file extension to .zip and then using Archive Utility. Alternatively, the Unarchiver application will automatically detect it as a .zip file. Leave the extracted folder in there and then delete the .zip file.

So, I've tried all the steps listed here and used the Troubleshooting tool, but I still keep getting this error that's in a little window titled: "Oh No!". Even if I try to run the program after doing all these steps, nothing shows up.

If you're on Catalina, press the "Restart osu!" option after it crashes.

I've been having an issue where after I play a couple maps, the game freezes once, then crashes.
I got the backtrace.txt and it said:
Unhandled exception: page fault on write access to 0x00000038 in 32-bit code (0x4c7586cd)

I'm currently running MacOS High Sierra
With Wineskin Wrapper 2.62
Engine: WS9Wine2.22

What's going on, and how do I fix it? (I have zero clue of what to do with this kind of stuff, sorry to bother you with it.)

Which Wineskin and what version of macOS are you using? The latest Catalina Wineskin should work without any significant issues.

I did. Reinstalled wineskin, used your OSU!Macos Agent and used the scan and fix thing, reinstalled osu! a couple times, nothing works. Still laggy and not full screened like normal. What should I do now? (I heard that osu! isnt completely compatible with High Seira which is what im using, but I don't think its because of that.).

I was referring to the Wineskin application not loading. Which Wineskin are you using? Can you clarify what setting you're looking for when you mean "fullscreen"? (there's a fullscreen mode option in the osu! settings) but I don't think turning fullscreen mode on would fix your lag issues.

Open the agent, click on Other and then click on Update osu!

You need to import using macOS Agent. See that forum thread of my latest Wineskin thread for details on how to import maps and skins.

Open Activity Monitor and search for osu!, wine, Wineskin, C:\, and kill any processes with those names in the process name

Recently, I've noticed that I can't open replay files from the Replays folder. When I F2 a replay, it saves the file in the format

Suicune3 - An - Catanoph [Lavender's Extra] (2020-09-03) Osu-3.osr

However, it appears that I am no longer able to open the replay files anymore unless I change the file name to something like

Suicune3_-_An_-_Catanoph_Lavenders_Extra_2020-09-03_Osu-3.osr

Otherwise I get this error:

I would appreciate it if you had any solutions to fixing this as I was able to open replay files with any file name and the .osr extension prior to reing the Wineskin around early November.

Apologies for the late reply, I don't know why replay files have broken in the latest builds. If you enable "Automatically open replays from the s folder", it will handle the whitespace removal for you.

If you are running Mojave wineskin and your game stuck in an update loop, try using CATALINA wineskin.

It fixed my issue.

I have deleted osu and i cannot shut down/restart my mac. If i do a notification that says “osu!59797251Wine interrupted start”. even though i dont have the game anymore. Should i re and delete again??
