Sorry, wasn't sure if i could participate but ed right before regs closed. I probably took a position that could have potentially been yours ;_;jdshark wrote: 1v4l2b
I am in the same boat as goatlife, be grateful you have the chance to compete. I'll be rooting my country on whether I'm on or off the team itself.
Letting 16 of 23 (~70%) teams makes a group stage obsolete, as it serves to "prefilter" before we enter the actual load-heavy double elimination stage.Nashmun wrote: 682d3f
Wow, why can't we have a regular 16teams brackets ? As for the three options I have no special preference but whatever you chose make sure you seed the teams before drawing.
Why not based on the three main participant instead ? That mean a team with 3 people ~#200 would be higher seeded than a team with 3players ~#100 and backups ~#500, which seems pretty odd to meLoctav wrote: 5b1v22
The only objective seeding would be determined by the average raw pp or average global rank of the entire team. Personally, I planned to seed the teams by the average raw
I say the third one is the best. So people will have to care about other groups too, not just their one.Loctav wrote: 5b1v22
As it stands now, we have 23 ed rosters. Since this is an odd number, we have several way of how to structure the group stage.
Generally, letting 16 teams seems weird due to the low amount of competitiors. As we plan to only let 8 teams ascend to the double elimination stage, we have these options figured:
Let me know what you guys like the most.
- We form 3 groups á 6 teams and 1 group á 5 teams, whereas the top 2 of every group ascends.
- We form 6 groups á 3 teams and 2 groups á 4 teams, whereas the top 1 ascends.
- We form 5 groups á 4 teams and 1 group á 3 teams, whereas the top 1 ascends + the best 2 2nd places across all groups.
I know That, but you cannot encourage people to have "backups" in their teams and then penalize them in the seeding system for taking more players than the strict minimum.Loctav wrote: 5b1v22
There is no such thing as "main participant". The idea or term of "backups" has been abolished 2 years ago. Everyone is an equal member of their team.
I have to agree with XavierJones.XavierJones wrote: 2yx2g

So, the registration phase was till 22nd, it means the team drawing will begin this weekend? At least I understand it that way (28th? 1st of March?)Loctav wrote: 5b1v22
As by today, we extend the registration phase till 22nd February 2015, 23:59:59 UTC+0.
Does that mean that person should be in the US team? ;w;Tasha wrote: 4q5r3n

Oh, we discussed that forth and back and forth and back. One point is that Group Stage is a huge effort, making it a bit of obsolete to host it when we keep majority of the participants.K i u i wrote: 3q3fl
Probably just forgotten to edit the Wiki. Loctav seems unwilling to qualify two thirds of the participants after group stage.
When's the schedule coming up?

Hmmm... I wonder if there could be some kind of a new category in the mappool like Extra, where you put one custom hard map, and to make it more fair - available only from semi-finals(?)
That probably makes no sense, but... hmmm.
We had that discussion in 2014. Back then I mainly used such maps since I didn't want people to play in their HD/HR confort zone. Those who demand of beeing HD/HR-Master(or even the TWC Masters) shall show it in the TWC by playing these very maps. And to be honest, I still have that opinion. But back then it was seen as too exeggerated and endagered the fun in the tournament, so we had a consens to have for next year (this year; 2015) a mix of low and high bpm maps in HR and HD, so players are able to choose. But it speaks for itself if a team avoids or bans these maps. Not that I want to expose anyone. That's why we will have a mix this year. But at the end, it's an world cup after all. People should show that they are the best. Beside that, it also gives a new tactical aspects which should make the TWC more interesting.AlexGc96 wrote: 3i4z3o
