I've done most of the translation to Turkish, things that people come across the most were my priority. Editor is still being worked on though and will probably be done whenever I have more spare time. I wonder, will we be able to get any credit for the translations we've done? Also some tips need context in order for us to make an accurate translation
Update:

Thanks to https://osu-ppy-sh.tvgratuite.org/u/familyfrost (84-97%) and a little more work from my side, Slovenian is finally completely translated
Checked Spanish translation and fixed a few typos and changed some that fits better Spanish for the latest rows added.
Updated Croatian (now at 100%).

Done. And again please update Slovenian language in the next patch because for some reason it hasn't been updated in the last three patches.

Updated german, now @100%
Romanian is @100%
Looking good ;D
Hungarian at 100% :)
Spanish at 100%
I added a bunch to the Hebrew section, but got stuck on 3 lines that I couldn't quite figure out if anyone is willing to help?

Letterbox breaks conflicts with {0} diff.
Audio preview time conflicts with {0} diff.
Audio lead-in conflicts with {0} diff.
I think I know what they mean, but I don't want to mess it up! :D
Basically:
  1. The letterbox option is the insertion of black bars on top and bottom of the screen during pauses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letterbox
  2. Audio preview time is the moment when the music starts when navigating in the song select screen.
  3. Audio lead-in is this: https://osu-ppy-sh.tvgratuite.org/wiki/Song_Setup#Music_Lead-In
The "conflict" thingy is when the same option is not set at the same value throughout the difficulties of the map.
Oh I see, Thanks. I added that in, and now Hebrew at 100% :3

On a side note; is there supposed to be a Hebrew section on the web/FAQ? because I couldn't find it!
Nah, the faq sheet of the Google Doc refers to the BanchoBot commands, and the web sheet to something that has never been implemented (yet?)

If anything, if there should be something in Hebrew, it's in the wiki. There is still nothing in Hebrew in it though.
Oh okay, cool. I guess it's this? If so, I might have to get on it :D
Yes, it's this. A good start would be to create the wiki thread :)
Oh great, thanks! Off to translating I go!

Finally added localisation for group and sort modes on song select:

SongSelection_NoGrouping
SongSelection_ByArtist
SongSelection_ByBPM
SongSelection_ByCreator
SongSelection_ByDateCreated
SongSelection_ByDifficulty
SongSelection_ByKeyCount
SongSelection_ByLength
SongSelection_ByMode
SongSelection_ByTitle
SongSelection_Collections
SongSelection_Favourites
SongSelection_Folders
SongSelection_MyMaps
SongSelection_RankAchieved
SongSelection_RankedStatus
SongSelection_RecentlyPlayed
SongSelection_Group
SongSelection_Sort
Is there any reason why you added all these "by"s while there is none currently?
Topic Starter

doesn't it make a lot more sense now? everything prefixed with "by" still shows all maps, while the others are filtered down. also allows for alphabetical ordering.
Indeed. And now I understand the purpose of SongSelection_Group and SongSelection_Sort, thanks.
Translated the new lines in italian :D
Hungarian fully translated. This is a long-awaited and very welcome change (for me, at least)!

Can we expect the main menu to be localisable, or are those buttons skin elements which only ers can change?
Hebrew 100% after new lines! :D
3 new strings are out.
[cocoa]_old
Indonesia 100% Yay :D
Italian translated 100% before marcostudios does that.
Spanish 100 % :3
Hungarian 100%
Updated the traslation of OpenGL to fit the "new" one

Added some new strings for configuration file header:

Hebrew 100% with new lines :)
However - due to the fact that Israel is written right to left, every string containing a Variable ({0}, {1}, etc..) might not work. would appreciate it if this would be tested - and if it is the case, I will work on fixing them all :P
you can test them on a local copy by editing it and marking read only
What do you mean by that? :o
that you can open Localisation folder, edit an appropriate translation file to whatever you want to test and then make it read only to prevent osu! from rewriting it with fresh online copy. Then you select the language, translation of which you need to test, and.. test?
Oooooh I see, I was thinking about some.. uh.. other.. stupid things... ;_;
i'll try it now - thanks.

edit: it seems fine. edited a few different lines to make sure.
Hungarian fully translated.

Thanks. I'll make use of this in the future.
I'd like to see screenshots of where the following strings are used:

JumpToDialog_Title
JumpToDialog_Showing
JumpToDialog_LimitReached

Thanks in advance!
I guess the first one matches what I highlighted on the screenshot but I can't find the other ones.
It would be nice if we could translate what's in the Jump To window and the "Jump To window" tooltip btw. And the tooltips of the audio player buttons too!

Jump To... is getting reworked, basically getting rid of window form, more TBA.
Thanks, XPJ38! I see it's been removed in the meantime.

Looking forward to it Marcin :D

just finished translating items of Traditional Chinese in 'game' page.
but I've found that some items (like the menu shows up when you click on someone's id) aren't there,
can't they be translated like others?
If an item does not show up in the translation list, it isn't translatable yet. New strings are added fairly frequently, so check back every so often!
Just finished the last missing danish translations :D
Topic Starter
Thanks to whoever went over all the traditional chinese localisations. Looks like you did a good job cleaning things up.
Translated the new string in italian, and fixing some errors that marcostudios made.
There are many "\n" in the new BSS lines. Are they necessary or can we replace them by actual line breaks?
Topic Starter
Please replace with actual line breaks. Not sure how this happened.
- Nyurin -
hello ppy,
could you add items of menu (buttons show up when clicking on ) and the description of !help?
most UI elements are translated except those so I hope they could be added in the doc too.
Thanks.

I'm working on rechecking and rewriting quite a number of Croatian translations.

Hi, I've changed zh-CHT from 中文(繁體) to 中文(正體).

Actually it's more like a rectification, since 繁體 means 'Complicated' in Chinese, 繁體中文 is actually a negative name.
If you wish to say Traditional Chinese in Chinese in a more proper way, I'd recommend to use "正體中文" (or 中文(正體) ).

I am not sure if changing that makes the in-game language setting goes wrong, so... just mentioning it.

If you wish it to stay the former way, feel free to undo this change.
Topic Starter
Sounds fine to me.
Sounds odd to me, as a Hong Kong player.

It has been known as 繁體 for Hong Kong and Macau and 正體 is the Taiwan term.

I believe that 繁體 is generally known in both area, while the other term is less recognized.

I prefer using 繁體.

Check the localization in wikipedia:

There are five different versions. Here is the translation in order:

1) Simplified Chinese for mainland China

2) Traditional Chinese (繁體) for Hong Kong.

3) Traditional Chinese (繁體) for Macau.

4) Simplified Chinese for Singapore and Malaysia.

5) Traditional Chinese (正體) for Taiwan.
actually "繁體" does not refer to "Complicated" but "Unsimplified", opposite to "Simplified" directly with no additional meaning.

plus, i think wmf's suggestion is the most exact way to distinguish them.
I've restored it back to "繁體" as it is a more recognised term.

If anyone feel that there's a need to change it to "正體" please feel free to discuss.

Cool, thanks. I checked them all a few times after translating, but there is never too much caution, so yeah.
Anyway, thank you. It's great(and a relief honestly), to know that I'm not the only one doing this.
Fixed some entries in finnish a few days ago.
- Nyurin -
uhh I see ;w; I had mistaken "繁體" as Complicated since the word "繁" was negative on my opinion.
But now, as other Chinese s explained, I think it's okay to use "繁體" too.
Sorry for the trouble!
Did EVERYTHING in Dutch what wasn't translated (around 100 lines) in the Faq area from around 50-60% to 100% :D
Dutch is 100% done now :D

No problem, I enjoy doing this!

Edit: It's 2 am at the moment and I've just finished translating Croatian to 100%. I'm off to bed now, could you review it sometime and, of course, change what's needed?
Post Scriptum: One thing caught my eye. The language name was "Hrvatska" and not "Hrvatski". The former translates to "Croatia" whilst the latter translates to "Croatian". Huge typo in the language name itself. I've mostly corrected grammar mistakes (s/sa, k/ka, kad/kada, č/ć, ije/je, ne+glagol, inverzije, glasovne promjene etc.) and shifted everything into 2nd person plural (ti -> vi) in order to make it consistent and formal (in a good way). I also rewrote a decent amount of the translations in order to get rid of anglicisms and use more suitable, Croatian words.
Cheers.

I reviewed it and made small, very minor changes. Nothing big. I also made a few notes so you can check them if you want. Very nice job, my biggest promblem was finding the most suitable words for some of the phrases. You seem to have broader expressing skills and you very well hit the spot where I somewhat failed or made a wrong decision.

Seems that way, yes.
Hungarian is at 100% again.
Why there is two blue rows in french translation ?
I speak about this :

Also back at 100% (But the two blue rows empty) but can't check how the rows from 832 to 841 looks in game as they doesn't seem to be in fr.txt

@XPJ j'ai fait du 832 au 841 mais comme je suis pas doué vaut peut être mieux que tu vérifie que j'ai pas fait n'importe quoi.
Topic Starter
I reset these as the english changed. They will be visible in future test builds.
Is Options_LoggedInAs necessary as Options_LoggedIn already exists? (line 83)

@Arnold : merci, j'ai corrigé 2-3 trucs.
I don't know what happened but the text that was on row 16 should have been on row 34, and row 34 was empty. The fr.txt was fine so it's weird. I fixed it.
Was it like that because someone changed it or was it a bug ?
Probably someone vandalizing the document. Change it back if you notice an anomaly like that (since it WILL break localization updates).
Topic Starter
i check all updates before they go live, but wouldn't mind others checking too :).
There are quite a few new strings, in case fellow translators hadn't noticed :)
Added 180 translations; finished Croatian.
They wont appear in game until the pull request is accepted. Expect more lines to be submitted. I'm not finished with the editor.

Reporting that I have reset the VideoOffsetTooltip key due to a missing format element.
Please revert the change made at 07:33 UTC. Someone deleted a large part of the spreadsheet.
Done. Just so you know, you can do it yourself under File > Show revision history, as long as you are connected to a Google .
I've checked the localisation document and the English entry for acedemy was missing.
I doubt this is the only one being modified/removed.
Moved a bit polish translation. I'll plan to translate what's left over few next days.
French localisation 100% completed (I spent too many hours on this, I am exhausted). Can somebody proofread my work please? It starts from line 845 to the last one. Please add a comment when you change something so that I know you did, or PM me.
@XPJ

Can somebody please tell me what "already snapped beatmap" means on line 914?
Topic Starter
Important new strings to translate at the bottom of the document.
I was woundering if it was possible to add a localization for Portuguese from Portugal (pt-PT?), as the current localization for Portuguese (pt) is Portuguese from Brazil (pt-BR?). :P
Topic Starter
Will the translations actually be different in this new version? Or did you just need an alias for it?
The language spoken in Portugal is slightly different from the one spoken in Brazil. For example, "Tela" would translate to "Ecrã" here in Portugal.
Also, I'm not too confident to make any changes to the current translations because of those slight differences.

PS: I'm not sure about the language codes. If using ISO 3166, Brazil would be BR while Portugal would be PT.

Edit: To clarify, the current translations are written in BR.
Topic Starter
You can add a new column and begin working on your localisation.
Ironic how me, a portuguese from portugal translated 99% of the localisation and done it based on the playerbase, which is massively larger in Brazil than in Portugal.

Nevertheless, I am not sure if this is really needed, both can read the same language without any problems.

Maybe after a complete localisation is released it should be done, but at the actual state I see no reason nor need for such thing.

Anyways, as peppy said if you really think that it's truly needed, go to that column and try to translate everything. I assure you it won't be easy.
Topic Starter
The old pt was moved to br, which I'm not sure is correct (this means anyone with the old pt setting will get a new localisation). Please confirm that this is correct behaviour amongst yourselves.
Well, It's exactly as I said. There will be only a few dozens of people using the pt-pt localisation due to the low playerbase in portugal (even though there are some more now than before).

We are talking about a few words that any portuguese from Portugal should be able (I'm pretty sure that yes) to understand. That's why I keep saying that this translation will be in a major part, a loss of time.

But. It's not like it was me who suggested this. I really hope that guy will keep his promisse and update the localisation that he wanted to exist. I'll maintain the br translation but can't assure the others.

That was SandroHc idea so I think it's alright. After all he says the the translation itself is Brazilian, so should be named like so.
As DJ Angel said, it is kind of a loss of time to keep a localization for Portugal but still, I want to take that forward.

Now, there's one thing that bothers me, the fact that every person with the current "pt" translations will be shown the new translation, even if they're from Brazil.
My idea is to check the language at the startup and, if the language equals "pt" but the system language differs, change the language to "br". This would be done in some of the next builds and removed in a future point. Would it be possible?
Me and Bitter finished the entire localisation project for Hebrew on our own(game and FAQ). Any idea when it's going to be added? Really looking forward to it (:

well this is actually an old post, I had post this in Feature Request since I forgot that localisation project has its own thread here.(The old post has been moved to Completed sub-forum now, so no worry.)

There are still some texts aren't translated in other languages in osu!, most of them are seen quite frequently, yet they aren't added in the translation table even now, so I wrote this post.

I've done a quick search before posting this, using "translating" as keyword and it seems like no one has posted something about this. If I missed something, please let me know.

6m2i6o

"Performance," "Accuracy," "Lv." The last one might not be needed to translate though, I think the first and the second could use a translation. Player's whereabouts are also a little awkward. But the current states of player can be translated, I believe.

Error Messages 4x4s5l

Although we could tell that we've got problem when we see the red line around that notice box, if we can know more about what just happened, it might make those who don't understand English feel safer. You see, a black screen with 5-second-long lag just happened and you don't know what to do, at that moment, if osu! tells the player that "hey calm down we know things are going wrong and we will fix it" in his/her tongue instead of a notice box filled with foreign language, wouldn't it be reassuring?

Most of them are game error messages, and the another one I've noticed is the one showing up when you're trying to spectate in multiplayer mode.

Descriptions of Commands in !help 39450

Unlike things above, this one is more... server-side, I guess. It won't affect too much if they can't be translated anyway, but still hoping for a chance to make the translation more completed. Yes, yes, I know I am picky.

Speaking of that, the description of /ignore in /help looks wrong, by the way. I am currently using Traditional Chinese version of osu!. You can see a line of English in the picture below, but it doesn't show up in the translation document, only in the game.

Toggle Scoreboard Messages 6m2g7

As the title. They also show up in game often, but there's no translation for them. By the way, in multiplayer, those messages are working well in any mode but Team V.S., you can toggle them but there won't be any message.

Key Bindings 5n4e5u

osu! has a variety of key settings which provides player a huge flexibility to customize their osu! experience, but they still can't be translated in to other language, might be a little confusing for people who aren't familiar with English.

These are all of things that can't be translated I've noticed currently.
