I think he was asking how the maps were for players that aren't just taiko gods. It's not like additional opinions hurt, anyway. If I'm irrelevant because I'm noob, just ignore me lol.

I tried both beatmaps of Go Beyond!! last night for a while and came to the conclusion that, for me, [Shalon]'s taiko and Alace's taiko are pretty distant in of difficulty. Alace's map for being "more complex" is actually in my grasp to complete the proposed challenge, but [Shalon]'s map I'm a far way from even being able to . They also require different specific taiko skills to do, and it really feels like [Shalon]'s map is just more difficult period rather than they're a set of skills that I'm just not good with. I don't think the grace of just S'ing [Shalon]'s makes up for it compared to Alace's. Anyone wanting to just cheese something to get HR specialist would just pick Alace's taiko I'm sure.

Some are great with HR at any BPM, but can't HD at all. Some have incredible speed but can't stream worth a damn. I agree with you in the sense that Shalon's Taiko is much more challenging than Alace's, but since both maps are viable HR challenges, I gave the option for either or.

This is very true and I considered it, but I still kind of felt that Shalon's is drastically harder that unless the player is good enough that the song is trivial, it's a noticeable enough gap.

So tonight I have managed to do the following stream in 1/4 without a miss

without even thinking about it. The rest of the song I played like ass but I am amazed and kind of excited for how I'm finally able to stream longer 1/4s like that.

Just before I played that song and did that I was considering posting and asking if I might be doing something wrong with longer streams, but I think it's just that it's taking a lot of effort to switch my mind from wanting to read an entire pattern then do it to having to read a pattern while doing it at the same time. It gets kind of impractical to try and read and prepare for a whole 1/4 stream when it's 7 or more notes, but it's how I've always done 2, 3, 4, and 5 note patterns. Did other people encounter this sort of issue when learning2taiko or is this just a me thing?

Once you get to read huge speeds, everything is easy, I can FC it on a widescreen too (I did it at a friend's home but with way less acc)
To give you an example : I can read up to 320+ BPM nomod in a 4/3 screen.

That actually looks quite doable, but only because I'm trying to learn it in a way so that my fingers would just automatically do them without me having to think about it rather than forcing it.

kkkd I can understand since I have issues with a lot of 'inverted' patterns where kats are dominant, but dkkdkkkd shouldn't be too difficult; aside from the first don, assuming a kddk playstyle, your second hand is doing all the dons. I don't think I've actually encountered it but I imagine it would only stumble me up about as much as kkdkk in that when I know it's coming I would be prepared for it (again going with the inverted thing).

I think it's a lot about how you try to read it, too. At first I tried to read 7-note patterns as being a 2-note immediately followed by a 5-note, but when that didn't work I just started working on making it muscle memory based on the number of consecutive dons/kats in the middle of a stream; kddkddk, for example, I would read it as swapping hands for the start of the dons because a single note in a row means basically that, you swap hand for the same color you were doing before.

That makes a lot of sense, actually, even though I never considered it as leading with either hand. The only thing I ever have to consider myself is which hand I'm ending with/if it's an even amount of notes or an odd amount of notes. I still derp hard on 2-note patterns and 4-note patterns because of that, but I'm slowly improving it.

I've been having some minor problems with the left hand thing but so far it's mostly just struck me to be that I wasn't properly ing the distinct difference of leading with my left hand, since most of the time leads are very right-hand oriented. I don't think I'll have an issue with speed because I'm actually left handed though, and sometimes I go faster than I should because of my left hand lol, but we'll see as I start doing long patterns more often and not just semi-BSing them and hoping for the best.

Idk if that's really as infamous as my IRL friend has made it seem in of difficulty, since I don't standard, but in a few days when I get to reliably beating it, I'm going to go over to her house and just nonchalantly beat it on her laptop. She'll probably kill me or something since she gets bothered by me actually managing to learn taiko. It will be worth it.
