Huehuehue, my recovery skills suck and because of that I can't get many high scores on maps with long streams.[Rdyjin] wrote: 2y2w1v
aaaaaa the forums ate my post qq
I'm curious how important the ability to recover from a Miss is, in higher level of play. Right now, a lot of songs I can often be primarily due to forcing myself back into a stream as fast as possible, but is getting good at recovering like that something worthwhile? Is it a skill that I would stop using in higher levels of play?
These two seem quite good, by the way i think that it'll be better to discuss about it in #taiko.HashishKabob wrote: u5f4f
Noobita, don't be so butthurt. This thread hasn't gone to shit yet.. you never know.
Sounds great idea. Here's a couple for ya.
HR challenges:
Full combo Silver Forest - Souon!! with 99.73% or better.
Notes/Tips-
~The map is 180bpm
~Has very low OD, only at 3.
~A lot of repeat patterns. Memorize similar sections to make the whole map simpler.
Full combo Ryu* Vs. Sota - Go Beyond!! Alace's Taiko with 99% or better OR S Full Combo Shalon's Taiko.
Notes/Tips-
~200bpm
~Average OD 5
~Alace's Taiko's Kiai Time is simple, but is the most complicated piece. Practice off HR before going to HR.
~Shalon's Taiko is complex with many dddkd-type patterns and some random kat placement in the long streams.
I'll post more as I think of them. I'll need your help as players to determine how challenging these are for normal players, so let me know what you think.
Wut, do-don points ? xDNeoRainier wrote: 4nb4c

Btw you're surely into the expert side...that is kinda uh...70/100 of do-don points.
I guess that while i'm barely in, a Xayphon is around 90
I think he was asking how the maps were for players that aren't just taiko gods. It's not like additional opinions hurt, anyway. If I'm irrelevant because I'm noob, just ignore me lol.NeoRainier wrote: 4nb4c

And also....without offence....but the challenges should be discussed by experts
I think Neo just stuttered xDNeoRainier wrote: 4nb4c

This is very true and I considered it, but I still kind of felt that Shalon's is drastically harder that unless the player is good enough that the song is trivial, it's a noticeable enough gap.HashishKabob wrote: u5f4f
Everyone has their own skillset too Rydin. Some people are great with long streams and complicated patterns, but can't do mods like DT or HD at all. Some are great with HR at any BPM, but can't HD at all. Some have incredible speed but can't stream worth a damn. I agree with you in the sense that Shalon's Taiko is much more challenging than Alace's, but since both maps are viable HR challenges, I gave the option for either or.
Shit, they found out! Escape plan B...... Time to flee!HashishKabob wrote: u5f4f

So tonight I have managed to do the following stream in 1/4 without a miss

Once you get to read huge speeds, everything is easy, I can FC it on a widescreen too (I did it at a friend's home but with way less acc)Kuro wrote: 27g5g
lol, I tried using HR on that song like you and Hashish did but when I got to the end everything was going by so fast... >_<
Long story short, I got a miss and quit![]()
That actually looks quite doable, but only because I'm trying to learn it in a way so that my fingers would just automatically do them without me having to think about it rather than forcing it.Kuro wrote: 27g5g

I still screw up kkkd and dkkdkkkd rhythms like a noob
I can play dkkd but when you start tagging on kkkd that means I have to lead with dons/kats with my left hand and I can't hammer dons/kats with my left hand for too long because I lose speed. I naturally lead with my right hand so dkkkdkkkdkkkd/kdddkdddkdddk, kkdkkkdkkkd/ddkdddkdddk, etc. are no problem at all as long as a don/kat constantly lands on my right hand in 4/4 time.[Rdyjin] wrote: 2y2w1v

kkkd I can understand since I have issues with a lot of 'inverted' patterns where kats are dominant, but dkkdkkkd shouldn't be too difficult; aside from the first don, assuming a kddk playstyle, your second hand is doing all the dons. I don't think I've actually encountered it but I imagine it would only stumble me up about as much as kkdkk in that when I know it's coming I would be prepared for it (again going with the inverted thing).
I think it's a lot about how you try to read it, too. At first I tried to read 7-note patterns as being a 2-note immediately followed by a 5-note, but when that didn't work I just started working on making it muscle memory based on the number of consecutive dons/kats in the middle of a stream; kddkddk, for example, I would read it as swapping hands for the start of the dons because a single note in a row means basically that, you swap hand for the same color you were doing before.
It's weird I guess but it's working really well for me so far.
