New lines to be translated:

Options_Online_LogPrivateMessages - Automatically log private messages
Options_Online_LogPrivateMessages_Tooltip - Enabling this option will automatically log all private messages sent and received to the Chat folder in txt format.
Options_Online_BlockNonFriendPM - Block private messages from non-friends
Options_Online_BlockNonFriendPM_Tooltip - You will not receive any private messages from s who are not on your friends list if this option is enabled.
Options_Online_BlockNonFriendPM_Toggle_On - You are now ignoring all private messages from everyone except your friends.
Options_Online_BlockNonFriendPM_Toggle_Off - You are no longer ignoring private messages from non-friends.
Bancho_NoFriendPMBlocked - {0} is currently blocking private messages from people not on their friends list!
"Prefer non-English metadata" is probably beyond understanding for at least 99% of the community. I am not even sure myself: is it the possibility to display the song title and song artist in their non-romanised version in the game (e.g. 初音ミク instead of "Hatsune Miku")?

I'd suggest to use a more explicit sentence, or to add a tooltip for better comprehension. Otherwise, because space is very limited here, are you okay if the translation takes up 2 or 3 lines? Like this:

(litterally "Display map titles in their original language when possible" - Imo the best translation when there is no tooltip)
I've translated that as: "Always show song data in its original language".
Finished up Croatian translations. I hope it's ok.
Could we have banchobot messages in this document too or in another new one? I'd like to correct some mistakes in its Spanish translation.

Edit: Nevermind, TicClick told me how to read all of them together, I'll correct them myself and will send them to #Spanish s.
Updated portuguese translation, some of the new lines were hidden among already translated ones
Completed Indonesian translation, though I'm still a little unsure about the "Reset All Bindings" part.

Speaking of which, is Ctrl key actually being used in-game (as in "This option will disable all mouse buttons. Specifically for people who use Z/X/Ctrl/Space to click." under "Disable mouse button" tooltip)?

I also noticed some no-longer-exist options such as "Always confirm before exiting osu!" (though you can still adjust it by manually modify the "ConfirmExit" on the CFG file).

Btw, I used "Use non-Latin text" for Indonesian. :P
Missing sentence for us to translate:

"Always show key overlay"
Along the way, add recently-implemented "Hit Error" and "Unstable Rate" translation too.
For those who haven't noticed yet, 5 new #log sentences have been added. Moreover, the whole !faq commands are now available to translation (huge work ahead).
Should we delete language commands such as "kr-explicit" after moving them to "explicit"? How will BanchoBot know which language to use?

Yes, please delete language-specific ones. All xx- prefixes should be removed eventually.

#skandinavian has multiple language specific faqs. What do I do about that?

edit: Removed them. Everyone understands English in skandiland.

edit edit:
I guess we can just remove the Swedish, Norwegian and Danish columns completely from the spreadsheet.

later:
I was completely confused about the Scandinavian faqs 2 weeks ago. I thought the !faq + word would use the a sentence in a translated language depending on what channel you were in.
This doc just changed where they were and how there were going to be used, I should've moved our faqs instead...
Someone suggested to do a full description toward DoubleTime mod tooltip (and he did). I wonder if it's appropriate or not, because he prefer to have a meaningful description instead of "Zoooooooooom". From what I see, Thai, Simplified Chinese, Indonesian, and Greece language provides detailed description, mentioning clearly about the 50% increased playback speed. This also applies to Nightcore and HalfTime mods as well. :P

Can we also remove tooltip for NoVideo mod as well? Since it's no longer used anyway.

The !faq *language* should stay as is, since it tells people of new channels. I think the Scandinavian languages should stay too, since there are younger players who might not understand all the advanced English terminology - if we remove those, then why not remove the ingame localizations too?

We hardly ever have to use faqs in our channel. Most Scandinavians prefer their language in-game so it would be silly to remove that too. The reason we're removing these sw/no/da- faqs is because they shouldn't exist any more.

peppy wrote: 73101g

Why create this complicated exception. I have yet to find a Swedish person in my life that do not speak English (who's not younger than 9 and older than 60). We really don't need these language specific faqs. !faq swedish/norwegian/danish/ should stay though, those could be useful in #osu.

By the way, how will these new !faq commands work? Will they work that way: every of the English commands will have multiple sisters with "xx-" prefixes?

It's up to you I suppose. Here are the questions you should ask to yourself:
  1. How well do you think people of your country will understand something like "Zoooooom"?
  2. Do you think the "DoubleTime" mod is already explicit enough, even for people who do not speak English everyday and thus, doesn't need a long, heavy description? A short one, maybe?
  3. On the contrary, do you think a long description should be appropriate here for people to fully understand the purpose of this mod?
Only you have the answers to these questions because every people of every country is different :P Some languages kept "Zoooom" or a local equivalent, some gave a short description like "Everything goes faster!", others gave a long one.
I've cleaned up all the FAQ entries with a language prefix, except for a bunch of unique Chinese ones that didn't seem to correspond to any other entry. There's a bunch that the keyword itself is in a foreign language, too, so I haven't touched those either - other than that, it should be a lot cleaner. There might be some redundant or stupid entries that need removing, though.

Edit: I also plugged in the last of the v1 localizations into slots that had nothing translated in them (mostly Japanese.) I guess we can finally take that link out of the first post?

XPJ38 wrote: 5t1mm

If that's the case, I'll leave it as is, because someone wrote that and made a discussion on the document mentioning about it. :P

If I were to go literally, I would write "Bruuuuuuuuuum" (translates as "Vroooooooooom", the sound of car). :P
(I don't know why anybody posts updates here)

Now the FAQ can be translated in the same Google-doc, and there are new lines to translate in osu!localisation, such as '(borderless)'.
I made a list of text I think could be translatable:
SPOILER
  1. The beatmap processing

  2. this beatmap information.
  3. the tooltips on the jukebox/now playing
  4. "s connected, Search, Lock s, and the tabs for sorting.
  5. When clicking on someone
I've also noticed there are many translations that won't fit where they should be:

p/2108035
which too should be added to the doc (making it translatable)

theowest wrote: 4f5b4v

I've also noticed there are many translations that won't fit where they should be:
1st screenshot: you should write on multiple lines by using Alt+Enter in Google Docs.
3rd screenshot: same or shorten some of the sentences.
2nd screenshot: I can't reproduce this overlapping, how did you do?
I think the second screenshot happens in English too and is caused by having way too many highlights

MillhioreF wrote: 2k1855

that's correct.
New line to translate - asking if you want to restart osu! after changing languages.
And "log_RetryCount" (line 301) has been changed to something more explicit.

Edit: moreover, since Perfect and Nightcore mods don't need to dragged anymore to be discovered, some faq entries need to be updated ("perfect" and "nightcore").
We have a topic in Skandi where you make a post if there's a need of a new translation somewhere.
Those who translates any of the Scandinavian languages should refer to our thread instead.

So all the Scandinavian languages changes should be mentioned in here:

Added quite a few new strings for updater logic.
"osu! is up-to-date! You are now running {0}."

What is written in {0}? The version number? I translated this with assumption that it's a version number.
updated ukrainian localisation a bit~
I noticed about the new translation entry for the Skin tab in Options.

I found this typo: "Options_TabSkin_CustonKey" :P
There is also "Options_TabSkin_UpsiedDown"

Also, see this thread to be informed about Update_Added and Update_Fixed being too narrow. So for the time being, until boxes are wider or autoresizable, you'll probably have to abbreviate or shorten your translations for these two lines.

All text areas should be either somewhat larger or auto-sized to allow for longer translation / larger fonts / whatever :P
It's seldom an issue for Chinese translations though, since they usually take less space than the English version.
Options_TabSkin_Special has changed.
Finnish version is a mess, only 70% complete, and most of the translations sound stupid and/or are incorrect. Noticed a couple of troll translations as well. Not gonna bother if I have to mark down every change I make, because most of it should be re-done.

If not, I'll update it over time...
Finished Polish translation.
New strings:

A bit redundant with "SongSelection_LocalRanking" and "SongSelection_OnlineRanking" if you ask me.
Topic Starter
Please feel free to transfer and remove the old two. They will not be used anymore.
SongSelection_Loading is also no longer used and replaced by the loading circle, right?
Changed all rude Russian translations to their corresponding respectful forms.

Winshley wrote: 6d5j56

That is correct. It can be safely removed.
SongSelection_RemoveFromFavouritesA and SongSelection_RemoveFromFavouritesB too, now that collections have replaced them?

Edit: ModSelection_Mod_NoVideo too, probably.
Topic Starter
Wait until collections goes live to public before removing, though.
NoVideo can go, yes.
Updated everything possible for Greece as well :)
I'd really like to know who on Earth actually took the time to make an English "Tsundere" version of the !faq commands???

Hats off to you!

(edit: now that I think about it, did I just find 2013 April Fool's joke?)
(edit 2: yes I did. ~slowpoke)
Almost everything by Mystyk helped out a bit too.
By April 2, there were still about 15% of the Tsundere commands that were equal to their english counterparts, so I wrote those. Group effort!
Good job there. I also love the new specially created entries :D
Just finished up the Filipino localisation. :)

From 77% -> 100% :D (Game localisation)
17% -> 26% (FAQ localisation)
Pushed german Faq to 85% and german game localization to 100%.
Moved PH to 29% -> 40% :D
I made some heavy changes to finnish FAQ translations. It's only 32% tho.
For those who haven't noticed yet, three new lines have been added: Collection_EnterName, Collection_Mapset and Collection_Select.

It would be nice if we could translate the new buttons:

And this... er... text in "1.":

http://osu-ppy-sh.tvgratuite.org/ss/714086
(Yeah I know, the original text is supposed to be "Manage Collection", see here)

edit: it is available now.
To make sure FAQs get updated between languages, when you edit a FAQ, could everyone change the row colour to the lightest shade of purple so we know to check the translation? Once it's been checked, simply change the cell back to white.

This should stop mild discrepancies in FAQs between languages.
Sounds good to me. Will keep that in mind.
Some of the FAQ entries (e.g: "apostrophe", "alot" FAQ) doesn't really make sense.

Indonesia language never use the apostrophe other than as regular quote. There are some uncommon words in Indonesia that uses the apostrophe, but this is not applicable even with English language. (e.g: "Jum'at" in Indonesia language, meaning "Friday")

And what the heck is "alot" anyway? lol
Have you ever heard of alots, Winshley ?

Also, shouldn't the "Low End PC" entry disappear ? There's no use anymore (Used to be in Options but now, it's gone)

Edit : Fixed one thing XPJ might have missed in the french faq section (Old link format, TBT entry.)

_Gezo_ wrote: 516q3b

If you set "MyPcSucks: 1" on your CFG file, the checkbox will become available again. Disabling this, exit Options menu, and then return to Options menu, and you'll see the checkbox gone by the wind.
That's something weird, but if it's supposed to stay, it'll stay.
I have been told by _Gezo_ in a GDrive comment that the taiko spinner is actually called a denden (it's even written in the wiki but I didn't notice, duh). Entry #244 (see below) still uses the term "spinner". Do you think it would be relevant to replace the word spinner by denden, or should we leave it as it is for the sake of clarity (not sure if people actually know what a denden refers to)?

"Relax! You will no longer get dizzyfied by ninja-like spinners, demanding drumrolls or unexpected katu's.
** UNRANKED **"

How about "dendens (spinners)"? Putting both words could help.
better leave them as spinners, takes much less effort to perceive
Yeah, you're probably right.
I'm willing to work on Hebrew Translation, but I would like to know if osu system s right to left languages, else it will look like gibberish.
*Removed !faq dictionary - !faq HL does the same thing

why this exists if cannot be translated?

also, saw the tsundere translation for the FAQ, and lol'd like hell
Probably should post this here.
Added !faq get-maps (basically a more concise combination of !faq and !faq import to teach newbies how to get more beatmaps)

It's used by osu! to determine where the menu tips end, so they can be indefinitely expanded. I added it to the spreadsheet as I have increased automation in the import process, so internal variables are also read from the spreadsheet.

I actually thought these kind of objects could be externally added, since they are the same for every language and its the first one I see since the beginning of this project, I think.

I don't see the issue.

PH locaisation is back to 100%, peppy

Special thanks to Zaphirox for almost completing the Filipino FAQ in less than a day!

I'd buy you er if i had the funds :/

We can get rid of these altogether now, right? Collections make them obsolete and unused.
XPJ>Check out greentext and newrank, these might need two or three things. Look at approved too for an info I just thrown here.

About approved, was it mentioned already in the thread that it needs to be changed a little bit ? I mean, since approval is only for Marathon maps... :V

Thanks for pointing that out, I have changed them a bit.

I have also translated the few remaining non-translated French strings in the !faq spreadsheet.

Thank you very much :3
translated around 10% of the missing german FAQ and corrected some entries

EDIT: german section is almost complete
i'm currently doing some changes on the osu! localisation docs. too many typos and grammar errors on filipino language xD

ok done
Any opinions on merging name-change and change-name FAQ entries? I believe one of them should be removed. I also suggest doing the same for guide and tutorial (just add link to tutorials thread to the list of guides instead).
name-change and change-name have been merged into change-name. guide and tutorial serve slightly different purposes, and can probably be merged too, but I'm not sure of the best way to do that yet.
Changed Options_Graphics_Snaking_Tooltip from "This should run fine unless you have an ancient machine" to "This should run fine unless you have a low-end PC" in response to this thread.

but duplicates in this case don't do any harm. If you quickly want to faq people, you don't want to risk getting the wrong faq.
well we can add as many duplicates as we want, but they should be written in the same manner as color and colour are done.

yeah, that's actually the faq I duplicated there :p.

If guide and tutorial are identical, then they should both be kept imo.
actually, I prefer name-change over change-name. I believe s use it more often too. o:
Just now, someone typed highlight and showing "Entry not found". He had to use hl to display the actual FAQ instead. =S
Yeah, we definitely need more duplicates.

or spend more time messaging banchobot to see what faq to use.
