I think the issue that I'm having is that my brain instantly recognizes the line drawn for the underside of the chin as a mouth, which throws off the whole image for me. It's like the thing has two faces staring through

Actually a crop is way more in order than a resize. I'd like to keep the detail at the current scan size, just without the 80% whitespace surrounding it.

Aternatives,

a. to Imageshack and use thumbnails.

b. just direct link to a photobucket/upppy page.

c. Stop complaining about uncropped images in a fucking fanart thread.

page streatching can be a little annoying though in an art thread.

WIP stands for Work in progress

I started last night making some scraps with my tablet and photoshop
this is the one I'm going to use for base



right now I'm done with the first step, after making some more details and cleaning up I'll start vectorizing so its a more clear drawing, coloring and composing a background for it also adding some elements.

suggestions and critics will be appreciated.

No, it is usually done to highlight (usually damp or more moisturized) sections of hair. The "wavy" effect is just a lazier way of approximating this effect. I am aware that I occasionally do this. It's because I'm lazy.

Example: your current avatar's hair has natural-looking highlights, whereas kideddie's Konata avatar has those obscure pointy light parts that don't seem to even make an attempt to follow proper light reflection.
