[osu!web] SS/S/A ranks inconsistent in profile by playing qualified maps 583h2

Some weeks ago, I noticed that SS/S/A ranks are not increasing quantity in the profile when playing qualified maps, in Stable; but it decreases when the map gets disqualified, or ranked. This created an inconsistency, where players who use to play maps while it is still in Qualified is not having correct quantity show in their profile.

I am one of the players that use to play maps while they are still in qualified (in osu!Catch), getting mostly S ranks, and it was clear to me that something was wrong when I noticed I was with much less S than I KNEW I had. In this graph below, info taken from osu!daily, shows how my S quantity is being constantly reduced since around December last year:

Observation: That sudden increase in 15 December was due some update that started to prioritize Lazer score system over Stable scoring system, where some S I made in some maps was with higher score in Lazer score than a SS I made in the same map. This problem of inconsistency is being a thing apparently since a bit before that (end of November/beginning of December).

Observation 2: As far as I noticed, this happens in other modes too, but only when playing in Stable / Cutting Edge etc. This doesn't seem to happen in Lazer. There, when playing qualified maps, it doesn't increase nor decrease the quantity of anything.

I know I actually have around 600 S in total, but if this continues, I am likely going to "have" negative S ranks in the profile within few weeks! It's very possible some players are already with negative ranks, since this is being a thing since more than 6 months...

Anyways, seems I covered everything about it, any questions I will be around to reply. Hoping for a fix (also a recalculate of SS/S/A ranks in profile when everything is fixed). Thanks in advance!

We've been tangentially aware of this being reported every now and then but chasing down details of it has been difficult to say the least. The mention of this happening only with stable scores is new and potentially helpful, although I'm still largely at a loss as to how this is possible.

To that end we have trimmed some old code which generally should not have been running, but if it somehow was, then it might explain these symptoms. Can you check back in a few days and see if that did anything?

Surely! Thanks for it, I'll keep playing qualified maps, and observing if something changes about this in the next few days. I'll return in about a week, or before, if I see things are back to normal. :D

Hello. Unfortunately, after 7 days of observation, I didn't notice anything different, and the problem remains unsolved.

I kept playing qualified almost every day in the past week to test, and the inconsistency is still there: the scores done on Stable in qualified maps are not increasing SS/S/A ranks, but it's being subtracted when the map gets ranked (or disqualified). On Lazer, it's the same as previously mentioned, not changing a thing (not increasing when setting scores in Qualified maps, nor reducing whey they get Ranked).

I don't think it was the best way, but I also tried to investigate further by myself, via Changelog and also GitHub, to see if there was some update that could have caused this problem, between 20/Nov~20/Dec (the period that this problem started to happen, as shown in the screenshot posted in the main post), but I couldn't find something minimally related to it that called my attention...

At this point, I am only with 14 Silver S ranks, wondering if I let it go for the 'negative quantities', or if I play random Ranked maps getting S Silver's to don't let this happen. It's not my case, I've seen players playing Qualified maps to PURPOSELY try to eventually reach negative quantities, or at least reduce their quantity of (especially) S and A ranks. As fun as this may be for some, the bad side of this is that it's not representing the correct quantity of SS/S/A ranks we have, and can create an illusion of those stats, when in fact the actual situation is not what it looks like. And it can just get worse and worse over time.

Anyways, I am still hoping you guys find the source of the problem! If there is some other question, something I didn't explain well, or something else I can do about it to help, like testing and observing more after some other changes you might do, I will be around!

Looking at some of your recent scores, you appear to be playing the beatmaps in question very soon after they move from qualified to ranked. Do you perhaps know if that is necessary to trigger the bug?

Nope, it's not necessary. It reduces right after the map gets ranked or disqualified, not when I play after ranked.

The moment I play in qualified also doesn't seem to matter... I usually play the map days before it even gets ranked, but in the morning today I played this mapset, in some other diff I didn't play previously. So I had a Silver S score in a [Faito's Easy] diff, done 5 days ago, and a S score in the [Enerugi's Normal] diff, done about 4~5 minutes before it became Ranked. Right after ranked (before I play anything), it reduced -1 Silver S, and -1 S. This part is working the same as before, the main problem here is that (since November/2024) it's not increasing anything anymore while the map is qualified, no matter the moment I play (like I tested here), due unknown reasons.

Also, I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED, but I just noticed something today: Ranked score in profile also seems to be somehow inconsistent. But in a different way. I'll try to show step by step to make it clearer.

This test was done in this mapset, in [Shabondama's Normal].
- Before even play it, my exact total Ranked Score was 1,007,744,816,567.
- I played it while it was still qualified. It increased score, +3,080,828, now 1,007,747,897,395 (until here, normal).
- However, after ranked, this score didn't get subtract, how it was supposed to be.
- After some minutes, I played the same diff, same mods. It increased +3,086,338. In a normal situation, I'd expect to have only more +5,510 from previous total ranked score, but now I have 1,007,750,983,733, which is counting the score I did in qualified + the score I did after ranked, and it doesn't make sense. It's like I played another map, but it was the same one.

I don't know if the ranked score is just taking way longer to subtract scores done in qualified (doesn't seem so), but this whole thing is making me think that there is something wrong in how scores in qualified are being handled.

Well, to resume the current situation: when playing the map in qualified, it's not increasing SS/S/A, but it is increasing ranked score. After ranked (before ever playing), it is subtracting the SS/S/A I got, but not subtracting any ranked Score. After playing same map I played while qualified, after ranked, it increases SS/S/A normally, but the ranked score increases in its totality (as if I didn't play it before), now having ranked score from qualified + ranked score after ranked taken into in the same map. (To clarify, green = behavior I expected and how used to happen; red = something that looks wrong, or different than before).

Sorry if the reply was too long, I have some problems of being long-winded (?) and repetitive, but I hope this extra inconsistency I noticed just today helps in something! This is a really weird situation :(
