[osu!stable] After I leave the timing editor, osu! starts lagging 3h5h1r

So, when I close the timing editor in the map editor and move my mouse around, I get extreme lag spikes, but only when I do sudden movements, if I move the mouse slowly, its fine.

No idea why that is, and it only happens after I close the timing editor, and nowhere else in the game, never experienced that before when editing maps.

I have no idea how to fix it and the only viable option is to restart the game and then to go into editor again, which is pretty slow because I visit the timing tab quite often.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

(Idk if this is the right place to ask this, never really posted stuff here)

bit of a shot in the dark, but have you tried reducing your mouse's polling rate?

I tried reducing my mouse polling rate from 1000Hz to 500Hz, but it made no difference.
I've also noticed that this issue occurs in the main-menu too sometimes, though it's much less noticeable than in the timing window. In the timing window, the latency jumps from 200ms to 500ms, whereas in normal menus it occasionally spikes to 50-60ms (compared to the usual 3.6ms).

any chance you could get a video recording of you playing the the frame time graph enabled?

I made a video showing the problem, and also I saw that it happens with my map specifically, so like I tried another finished one before, but nothing changed, but when I did mine, well then I got the spikes.

I have the same exact issue, opening timing (or song setup) and closing it starts insane mouse lag, 5 fps and high latency every time I move my cursor, restarting the game fixes it until opening timing again, also has been happening since this thread was made and switching polling rate doesn't help, have you found any fixes?

Nope, still have the issue, no idea what the problem might be

I have tried reinstalling the game, it doesn't seem to be a different application causing the issue like discord, but it's still strange because if it was widespread more people would be talking about it which makes me think there is a really specific issue but idk.

Having the same exact issue here - and as someone who only uses osu! to make maps, it's infuriating having to relaunch the game every single time that I close the timing window. Starting to get extremely demotivating.

Coming back to this,

May you send the map here?
For all others, does it happen with all maps or only specific ones?

Also sadly no one did this yet:

Don't have to be playing but opening it in editor when lags are happening.

Please see wiki/en/Performance_troubleshooting aswell if you haven't yet. If your mouse polling rate is above 1000hz, try lowering to 500hz. May I ask for your PC specs?

This is my contribution to this issue: https://medal.tv/games/osu/clips/krj3UtMcqkkEVzUQp?invite=cr-MSwzY2ssMTg1MzY3MzQ1

My specs are a Ryzen 5 5600x, RX 6600, 32gb DDR4 running at 3800mhz. My mouse also usually runs at 1000hz, however I've tried lowering it to 500, 250, and 125 with the issue still occuring.

The issue for me usually occur on most maps, however now I'm noticing that it's a lot more inconsistent. I came back to the same map in the video after restarting for the issue to not happen so I'm not sure

I have had this same issue and have raised an issue on github as its making it basically impossible for me to want to map right now. Hopefully some insight comes of it

Also did this https://medal.tv/games/osu/clips/ksykS5G9pG7ilNcYB?invite=cr-MSxBcjYsMjEwNDA2ODA3 and this happens on any map for me, no difference between

I'm assuming this issue continues if you have nothing running in the background and it is just osu! and core processes running in the background? This includes but is not limited to discord, overwulf, chrome, and any other supplementary applications.

Do your computer mice have software that are attached to them?

Are all updates (graphics, OS) applied and you've restarted your computer since applying them? Do any of you have XBOX game bar (or something of the sort) running idly in the background?

Does this specifically occur when the osu! editor has been open for a long time or does it happen at any time?

Ok, I have done elimination testing off of this and have come to a cause on my PC. Ironically the recording software to capture it was the problem (seemingly). Once the lag started, closing Medal instantly stopped the issue in the game, without needing a game restart. This must be an issue with the software currently so it's probably best advised to keep it closed when trying to run osu!. Same for others within this thread
