osu! Beatmapping World Championship (o!bwc) is a global beatmapping contest that brings together beatmappers from across the world to showcase their creativity, expertise, and ion for mapping. In this competition, teams represent their home country and work collaboratively to craft the best maps, and compete against others to make out of qualifiers as well as survive through intense clash rounds. Whether you’re a seasoned mapper or an aspiring new talent, o!bwc welcomes you to team up and us in this premiere beatmapping venue!

Contest Format


  1. o!bwc follows a round-based format, consisting of a qualifier round and multiple clash rounds.
  2. Qualifier round:
    1. Qualifier round is ranking-based.
    2. If there are multiple teams from one country ed, only the team that ranks the highest will the qualifier round even if they are ranked within the first 16 places. In this case, the qualification will be ed to lower ranked teams of countries that have not seen a qualified team above.
    3. After the Qualifier round, seeding of Round of 16 matches will be decided according to the ranking of each team in the qualifying round.
  3. Clash Rounds:
    1. Clash rounds consist of tight-time head-to-head matches between two teams and only one of the teams will proceed into the next round.
    2. Clash Rounds are run on a single-elimination bracket.
Country and Team

  1. o!bwc is a team-based beatmapping contest. Mappers should through this form.
  2. Each team consists of 4 - 6 , with one member as the captain of the team.
  3. Captain is responsible for organizing and managing their team and progress, submitting their beatmap, as well as communicating with the hosts.
  4. All team must share the same country flag.
  5. At minimum, the captain should the Discord Server and keep up with updates to the contest. Other team and spectators are encouraged to do the same.
Beatmapping

  1. This contest is for the osu! mode only.
  2. Captain is responsible for submission on behalf their team.
  3. The contributions of team must be declared, for example, a list of sections mapped by each individual mapper. that lack sufficient contribution may be ineligible to receive awards, or disqualified from the contest.
  4. Submission must be an .osz file exported from the osu! in-game editor.
  5. Submission must be at the designated submission site.
  6. Submission should comply with the Ranking Criteria when applicable.
  7. Submission should not contain information that reveals the identity of your team.
  8. Do not or share your submission with others beyond your team before the results announcement.
  9. Custom hitsounds and custom combo colours are allowed. However, backgrounds, videos, or storyboards are not allowed.
  10. Do not modify metadata such as Artist, Title, and Tags in the provided template.

  1. It is mandatory for judges to give comments and reasons behind their judging.
  2. Submissions are anonymous to judges.
  3. There will be two s of judges, one for the Qualifier Round, and the other for the Clash Rounds.
Judging Criteria: Qualifier Round

  1. Expertise (45%): How well the map reflects the music elements, with an emphasis on music reflection, pattern/rhythm consistency, coherence, and playability.
  2. Creativity (45%): How the map stands out compared to current mapping trends and other submissions. Generic maps or copy-paste concepts are discouraged. Creativity built on top of solid expertise is more than important as well.
  3. Judge's Impression (10%): Judges can award or deduct points based on specific noteworthy aspects as they deem appropriate, such as outstanding sections and hitsounds or vice versa.
  4. Judging results will be calculated using standardized scoring.
Judging Criteria: Clash Rounds

  1. Clash Rounds are based on a voting system. Each round consists of head-to-head matchups between two teams.
  2. Each judge has one vote for each matchup and they must vote for one team out of the two. The team with highest number of votes will this round and the other will be eliminated.

  1. Contest Points: Contest points may be awarded after the contest has concluded (pending approval).
  2. Badges: Badges may be awarded after the contest has concluded (pending approval).
  3. osu!er and cash prizes: osu!er and cash prizes may be awarded to the top teams after the contest has concluded. Availability depends on the sponsorship secured.
