A placeable object which, like a slider, when you don’t have your cursor over it, you miss, (but make it non-clickable. I imagine it as a thicker combo-line.)

Why?

1. Mapped cursor dancing
2. Directional notes
(Bonuses)
3. Adds new geometry mappers can work around

Think about it, if you’re a mapper and you want someone to move their cursor in a certain direction at a certain speed, you have 3 options.

1. A jump
2. A slider
3. A stream

Each of these has an issue which is solved by the follow line.

1. Jumps can be non-straight! By adding an object in between the two notes, you need to move the cursor in a new shape.

2. You cannot click slider ends.
By adding a follow-line you can make essentially new variants of sliders out of any two or more circles, or practically make directional hit-circles.

3. The smoothness of a curve on a stream is determined by the density of notes, but with a follow-line it can be determined by the curve even with lower density notes.

In practice, it adds more fluidity to cursor movement and more options for mapping music than just high density notes. It also allows for new shapes out of the same arrangement of notes.

A few important notes:

This definitely will change difficulty rating because the distance between notes needs to be recalculated for follow-line note sections.

It adds new complexity, yes, but allows for larger song expression in a way that still feels “osu!

It would be essentially the biggest addition to osu! since launch because it can change how the game is played, but it doesn’t affect any current maps and introduces a lot more expression of music that I think osu! misses out on given its unique mouse movement based gameplay.

It might be a long shot this becomes added, but I still think it would be not only fun but genuinely amazing addition to the game.
