the hype culture surrounding modern anime makes it hard to discuss anime on itself, it seems like every new anime that comes out is the best thing ever and the only thing relevant in anime discussion, which is a bit of a shame
like i'm sorry, a .30 split from second place isn't natural, and it's something that can only happen with hype or fandom, I don't say that frieren is bad, I prefeer it over FMA, but I just think it's important to clarify that hype has a BIG effect on our modern culture

again, surrounding the general anime community on itself, there is a certain part of the community that is very centered on like "oh woke localizers are ruining anime or whatever" and I just think that it's total bullshit, same thing applies with "oh we must gatekeep anime from all of this tourists"

A lot of times I see like "oh this is tortureporn/cryporn" or like there is way too much gore on soemthing and whatever, and I just think it's fine for these works to exist, and it's not a negative trait on itself that the stories are built to be this extreme or to "bait" certain reactions from the public
if someone really likes gore, let them have an anime that is pure gore, it may not be needed, but as long as the demographic exist, we should just let people enjoy this type of stuff

Animes like lain have been distorted thanks to the internet, and it has created a fandom that just really overvalues and overstates these kinds of anime

It's edgy, well, that's not bad per se. But it's edgy trying so hard to be intellectual where there is literally nothing to analyze. It's supposedly a series about inequality and the flaws of meritocracy but the characters are so stupid and shallow that I'd rather have a generic horror plot with them where each one dies painfully. Assassination Classrom executes the idea of meritocracy and corruption way better despite being an action comedy and not a "psychological" drama like COTE supposedly is.Patatitta wrote: 4y1w
