Could you try making sure that your antivirus isn't blocking anything? PneumaVoid had a similar error message.

See community/forums/posts/7756236
nope, i don't have any antivirus option that removes dangerous files

Instead of using Archive Utility, could you also try using The Unarchiver (https://theunarchiver.com/) since PnemaVoid reported this helped find some of the files. If this doesn't work, please generate a log with osu!macOS agent and copy and paste it here. Thanks!

I already use The Unarchiver, the problem appears when opening Wineskin, on the previous version of osu for High Sierra i could easily open osu's Wineskin

Have you actually tried ing an older version of osu!macOS (only if you have macOS Mojave or older) or have you tried reinstalling the latest wineskin? Because yeah...

Also I haven't been on the osu!forums lately so I couldn't help anyone, heh...

Yeah so, I ed the new osu with Wineskin like 2/3 weeks ago, i changed from the old osu to the new one (the catalina one) because with this i can get to work discord rich presence. The old version is most likely to work but the discord rich presence won't work :/
No panic guys, Big Sur works just fine with this. (I updated to Big Sur, and had tested it)
i wonder if its possible to run the 2007 client through wineskin

Well I'm sorry but you're going to have to use the latest wineskin to get discord rich presence to work, as doing the bridge.exe method on the older wineskins no longer work and you MUST use the latest wineskin, sorry.

Now I already updated to Big Sur Beta a month back and saw that osu!catalina worked with Big Sur, but I was too lazy to make a post on the forum about it.

Maybe it would work but you would need to update the wineskin to 64-bit in order for it to even run on Catalina & Big Sur.
I found that slc's Wineskin is way more stable on my computer, but I'm packing up and moving everything to Techno's Catalina+ Wineskin since it has compatibility with Big Sur which I might later.

Yea Discord RPC doesn't work on older Wineskins unfortunately.

If your game runs, and you're only experiencing issues with Wineskin.app, you could maybe try and copy and paste the old Wineskin.app to the new one? I have no idea whether this would work, and it's entirely based on the assumption that Wineskin.app is portable and doesn't have any wrapper-specific dependencies...

Actually, if I ed my Wineskin.app (that is working under Techno's Catalina wineskin) would that work?

It should work but just make sure you enabled the right Winetricks :) I'm not too sure how the osu!fallback client works but generally speaking it should be fine.
The new version of osu is different from the old one as, in the new version when i tap on drive c >> osu it doesnt come up with a skins and beatmaps folder only discord-rpc.dll
osu!.cfg

That doesn't seem right. Have you executed osu! before - fetch the latest executable with osu!macOS Agent (in the Other tab) and then run it to update osu (or in this case, start osu! for the first time)

I've updated to Big Sur. It could just be the post-upgrade jitters but anyone getting frame drops while playing?

Probably not an issue with the upgrade. The latest Wineskin (reportedly) seems to have a lot more frame drops than the older version (probably something to do with the bit architecture translation shenanigans so I'm waiting on an updated engine).

Frames are a bit better now that I've settled into Big Sur. The last compiled was Jan but there's commits on the Git repo going back to August so if it proves a big issue we could try compiling ourselves, but I think at this stage it isn't too necessary.

Not really sure if this has been touched on before but whenever I open osu I can only hear the audio and there is a black screen, I can still click on stuff but I can't see anything. Is there a fix to this?
Hello, osu! doesn't seem to run. It was also lagging and freezing a lot yesterday. I could still open it after quitting the app, though. However, when I tried to open it today, it went back on updating and never opened. My mac is still on Mojave. Troubleshoot report is as follows:

And also, I'm planning to update my mac to Big Sur. Can I still play it on that OS? If so, will I have to re-do the installation steps?

Thank you so much!

Hard to tell what's going on with just that information. Whether there's a "fix" depends on what Wineskin your using, your macOS version etc :P. Please paste the report from macOS Agent.

Thank you so much!

Open macOS Agent and click on Other and then click on Update osu! which should manually update osu! for you.
You can play on Big Sur with your existing (latest) Wineskin but performance is a bit iffy (apparently) at the moment. You shouldn't have to redo any steps (should work just fine as is).

I'm using Big Sur right now. Performance for me is the same as Mojave (I skipped Catalina) but your mileage may vary.

But osu! is definitely still playable - though you might have to tune your settings

With respect to the Wineskin:

Could you please perform the following
  1. Locate your osu!.app Wineskin
  2. Right click, then press Show Package Contents
  3. Click Advanced, then click Test Run
  4. If osu! starts, close it. Otherwise, let the process run and then click Yes on the error message that appears.
  5. Please copy and paste the output of the two logs here or into a pastebin (such as https://paste.ubuntu.com)
With respect to the Agent:

From a quick google search this appears to be the result of overlapping/conflicting libraries/frameworks/dependencies? https://stackoverflow.com/a/30582486/6299634

I had a look on my computer and tried to check whether both referenced directories are also present on my computer, and they are. However, do you happen to do any development work? That could explain the issue.

I might need to leave this one to Technocoder, since he designed the program and generally speaking I'm not that familiar with objc or c#.

While the Agent is a handy tool, it is not needed in order to run the Wineskin. There are terminal commands that can substitute it. Though obviously if we can, it would be nice to troubleshoot this too.
so i launched osu! through the wineskin and it opened, it was working fine and all my maps and skins were there. i then closed it and the thing popped up so i clicked yes and got this: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/K8XxgNzqc4/
i tried launching osu normally but it still tells me that its damaged. do i just use the wineskin to launch from now on or is there someway to fix the problem? i've also considered updating to Big Sur (i'm currently running Mojave 10.14.6) would that help solve the problem?
edit: just tried launching it again from the test run and it lets me but i cant use any skins and when i try to play maps the game crashes
i havent had any problems with this until now. osu doesnt re-open unless i restart my laptop and whwen i run the troubleshoot, it givess me this

Updating to Big Sur won't really fix your problem unfortunately. If the test run is giving you different results to the actual executable, try repairing the exe through agent again or alternatively running this command:

sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "~/path/to/my/osu\!.app"

Can you also make sure that your Skins and Songs folders in drive_c/osu! aren't corrupted or anything. It *is* pretty weird how your install is behaving and somewhat corrupted... You're getting a lot of errors, such as these

0098:fixme:path:parse_url failed to parse L"osu!ui"
0098:fixme:path:parse_url failed to parse L"osu!ui.resources"

If you haven't already, I'd try reinstalling just to be sure and to isolate that issue. Also you could try to go to Wineskin.app > Advanced > Tools > and under Wrapper Tools click Refresh Wrapper (do NOT click Rebuild as this will delete everything including your Songs, scores, etc, unless you have them backed up - if they're backed up you could try that as well) - BE CAREFUL ABOUT DOING THIS (I may have done it to myself and now my osu! won't update :/ - maybe make a backup first

Also are the logs the same on your second test run (when the skins don't load, maps crash the game etc) ?

It's some pretty weird stuff, keep us informed and try the stuff above :)

AmAWolf

Will to Google Drive now, and I'll provide instructions + link by editing this post once its done :D See below, let me know if there are any problems

Also yea, if Agent isn't returning anything weird then there won't be any useful debugging info there for us to find.

The report is showing errors with respect to updating the osu! application. Could you try updating from osu!macOS Agent:

  1. Open osu!macOS Agent
  2. Click the Other tab
  3. Click Update osu!
Alternatively the executable binary directly from home/ and replace it within your application

  1. osu.exe from osu-ppy-sh.tvgratuite.org/home/.
  2. Locate where osu!.app (your Wineskin) is installed
  3. Right click on it and select Show Package Contents
  4. You should now see three files/folders: Contents, drive_c and Wineskin. Click drive_c.
  5. From here, click osu!.
  6. From here, locate osu!.exe and replace this file with the updated version that you just ed. Make sure you keep the filename the same.

Not much happening, just trying to debug different issues :)

Wineskin.app replacement 3i2j1h

If you are experiencing issues with Wineskin.app, you can try ing it separately.

Instructions: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/wineskin.html#resolution

link: https://minhaskamal.github.io/DownGit/#/home?url=https://github.com/aidswidjaja/osu-mac/tree/main/src/wineskin or https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Gz5Y0M4WoMxTTwb5aHUccebO5AlVm3SN?usp=sharing
  1. Click the Link above
  2. If using Google Drive, click ALL in the top-right corner of the screen
  3. It will this as a zip file. Extract the zip file until you just have the Wineskin.app file
  4. Inside osu!.app (Right click > Show Package Contents) locate Wineskin.app - make a backup of it (you can just rename it to say something like Wineskin.app.backup if you want)
  5. Move the new version of Wineskin.app from Google Drive into osu!.app

Please be advised if that this hasn't been tested and that distributing the Wineskin.app file on its own is completely experimental so it might not fix your issues. But definitely let me know if there are any problems with it :)
I know this thread is pretty old but its the most relevant for this. I downladed osu! using these same steps and I was able to play for about 3 days. The today I can't open it anymore I doublick or right click and click open and it don't respondió or open. I've tried and deleting and re-ing and it still don't work (I also used the client and done the steps for it). please help.

For some reason Wine is looking for a start.exe file.

Please make sure two things are correct:

1. That your Wineskin Advanced menu looks like this. It's on the Configuration tab of the Wineskin app that we used earlier to perform the test run.

Make sure that Windows EXE field says:

"C:\osu!\execute.bat"

2. Ensure that you have a file named execute.bat in drive_c/osu!/execute.bat

Make sure it contains the following

start C:\osu!\bridge.exe
start C:\osu!\osu!.exe

Once you have done that, try doing the Test Run again. If all works good, then good to go, otherwise copy and paste the contents of the new log file.

Technocoder might want to take a look at this since he was the one who wrote the program - however in my experience with the new Wineskin you can drag and drop files into osu! (at least from Firefox) as long as you have that configured correctly. You might also be able to double click on the osz file to open it with osu.

But the auto-move to s works for me with osu!macOS Agent running in the background. Make sure that you have selected the right osu!.app filepath in Agent. If any issues feel free to point them out here but Techno's been busy recently and he's in the best position to help you unfortunately

The right osu!.app is definitely selected. I dont know how to drag and drop into osu, as it's fullscreen for me.
Would there be a way to configure a windows program to open a .osz or .osk file?
(that's the error I get when I try to open a file in osu!)

Could you make sure that

1. You unzip the file using The Unarchiver instead of the default Archive Utility on macOS. I think someone else said that it caused problems.

2. Make sure there are no antivirus software interfering with your installation

(community/forums/posts/7756236)

You might need to reinstall it afterwards. You can also try installing Wineskin.app manually (community/forums/posts/7793479) but I doubt that would work if your install is corrupted.

So basically, execute.bat is a text file which should contain two lines.
You also want to make sure that Wineskin.app points to this file in the Windows EXE field.
And you mentioned that you could only see execute.bat, bridge.exe, and osu!.exe in your osu! folder? For reference this is what my folder setup looks like.
If there are only three files there, it could be possible that an antivirus is removing your dll files or something. So just make sure that you've also followed the guidelines I sent to oblicue above which you can follow if the first guidelines I gave you don't work.

Hope this helps everyone :)

Can you take a screenshot of the error message you receive as well as the Properties pane

To your changes:

6. Click Tools, then click Command Line (cmd). A console-like should open (it takes a while tho)
7. Type explorer.exe
8. Navigate to My Computer\osu!\Songs and locate the osz beatmap you just dropped
9. Right click on the file, click Properties and it worked. It should look like the image below.

I found slc's Wineskin was more stable but obviously that is pre-Catalina only and Techno's Catalina< Wineskin uses the WS11 engines that have wine32on64 (basically in a nutshell: adds more dependencies and complexities since we're trying to run 32bit code on 64bit only hardware)

In general, I found that Techno's Wineskin has a few performance issues on Big Sur compared to Mojave on a 2016 MBP Intel i5. I think others reported a few issues too? But generally speaking it's tolerable and I still play on Wineskin.

I don't know much about this but I don't know what you mean about start C:\osu!\bridge.exe and start C:\osu!\osu!.exe being in execute.bat. I can see three papers named execute.bat, bridge.exe, and osu!.exe

I reinstalled, but the wineskin still didn't work, then I installed Wineskin.app manually. That seems to have worked, and I have opened it. I don't have an antivirus and definitely used The Unarchiver. I followed the steps to configure a windows program to open a file (which the properties look like they've worked) , but when I open a .osz or .osk file, I get the same error.

Either way, how does the app run on Big Sur? Does it run better than Intel-based macs? Which runs better; crossover through Rosetta or MacOS osu! Agent?

I found slc's Wineskin was more stable but obviously that is pre-Catalina only and Techno's Catalina< Wineskin uses the WS11 engines that have wine32on64 (basically in a nutshell: adds more dependencies and complexities since we're trying to run 32bit code on 64bit only hardware)

In general, I found that Techno's Wineskin has a few performance issues on Big Sur compared to Mojave on a 2016 MBP Intel i5. I think others reported a few issues too? But generally speaking it's tolerable and I still play on Wineskin.

dw, still working on this!

Ok so here's what I've found

After many hours of work scripting potential fixes and researching Wineskin I think the best alternative to Associated Extensions in Wine is Technocoder's osu!macOS Agent which can automatically move beatmaps to osu!. You can see this is an open issue on GitHub https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer/issues/47 which would explain why a lot of people here are having trouble with that

In theory, you could move an osz to the osu! directory automatically and then trigger a refresh of it in Wineskin by somehow running
C:\osu!\osu!.exe C:\osu!\Songs\YourBeatmapHere.osz
in cmd somehow under the same prefix/instance. But Agent already achieves that so there's not really much point in creating another program to do that.

For some reason winecfg doesn't work and I was hoping to modify the extensions through there. But anyway, that's all I've got. Sorry to everyone hoping for a better fix :(

I don't know much about this but I don't know what you mean about start C:\osu!\bridge.exe and start C:\osu!\osu!.exe being in execute.bat. I can see three papers named execute.bat, bridge.exe, and osu!.exe

I reinstalled, but the wineskin still didn't work, then I installed Wineskin.app manually. That seems to have worked, and I have opened it. I don't have an antivirus and definitely used The Unarchiver. I followed the steps to configure a windows program to open a file (which the properties look like they've worked) , but when I open a .osz or .osk file, I get the same error.
https://gyazo.com/6a0a45296a8dc07deca0e9c66983a3f6 Here is a screenshot of my "Advanced" settings in the osu wineskin. I have all the file types in the dropdown menu.

It should look like the image below.

got this working on big sur
I came to this thread to find out myself if it works on Big Sur, haha

I don't know if the M1 Macs have been tested yet (or if they even work at all). I don't really know what you mean by running through Rosetta/Crossover/Agent however I don't know whether Rosetta 2 will Wineskin/Wine. However the folks at Crossover might have found a solution already.

Haha lol I'm trying to keep track of all the questions as well... but please feel free to help out as well since I think Techno's on hiatus

I'll try updating the FAQ on https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/index.html, maybe provide some bbcode templates and work through formatting issues on the site today so that I can address these issues faster without jumping through forum threads as well.

And that reminds me, if you did mention an issue please please please follow up on it and someone here should be able to help you - otherwise we'll forget about it :(

Note to future people about Wineskin.app I've just realised that if you haven't ran the Repair tool on osu!macOS Agent that your Wineskin.app might not be able to run (even if osu! does) - so do that first before any other troubleshooting methods I might have mentioned above

Here are the screenshots:

I am not sure which error you wanted, so I included when I try open the .osz and also when I open the old Wineskin.app

So I went back and tested this out - it looks like with the recent update to Techno's Wineskin I hadn't realised this method doesn't exactly work. Weirdly enough, if you open explorer.exe and then open the Wineskin through that window it will work.

I'll try and figure something out but in the meantime try using drag/drop into the osu! window as outlined here https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/welcome/import.html#drag-and-drop

dw, still working on this!

Sorry to everyone hoping for a better fix :(
Turns out my antivirus software (that I completely forgot I had) was messing with it. Set my osu! folder as an exception so it wouldn't scan it, repeated the steps and I got osu! to start.

Very nice. I don't even think that there's official for the M1 processors yet, so if its ok with you I might report this back upstream to the Wineskin community.

Just to confirm, you're running the WS11 Wineskins on the new M1 MBA?

Please exclude osu! from your antivirus! More info here:

https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/malware.html

osu! and other Wineskin wrappers being reported as a false positive for malware is a known issue but something we can't really disable rn, so it's up to individual s to exclude osu! from virus detection individually

Let us know if you have any more issues :)

Hello again, I did follow your advice, and it started working. But as of right now, I cannot open it again. T~T Here's the report:
You could try updating the osu!.exe manually by ing it from home/ then replacing it in your Wineskin. If that doesn't work let us know and attach the contents of drive_c/osu!/Logs/update.to a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com

lucid126
all right, when I opened osu! and tried to a map, a pop up box said that no windows app could run it, so i followed the steps and checked the automatically move ed songs to the songs folder, now there's only 1 song on there and its birdsong. i ran the report and said everything was fine. I'm on mojave. has anyone experienced this? Edit: I got the song to work, but now whenever I try to exit to the main menu it just goes to a black screen. Edit 2: I fixed everyrhing
Good to hear you fixed everything, let us know if you encounter any more issues. Also feel free to let us know what you did to fix it.

so i launched osu! through the wineskin and it opened, it was working fine and all my maps and skins were there. i then closed it and the thing popped up so i clicked yes and got this: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/K8XxgNzqc4/
i tried launching osu normally but it still tells me that its damaged. do i just use the wineskin to launch from now on or is there someway to fix the problem? i've also considered updating to Big Sur (i'm currently running Mojave 10.14.6) would that help solve the problem?
edit: just tried launching it again from the test run and it lets me but i cant use any skins and when i try to play maps the game crashes

AmAWolf
Sorry for not replying,
no, I didn't try but could you give me the Wineskin.app so I can try it?
And could you explain me what I have to do? I'm not that techie
Will to Google Drive now, and I'll provide instructions + link by editing this post once its done :D See below, let me know if there are any problems

Also yea, if Agent isn't returning anything weird then there won't be any useful debugging info there for us to find.

Paydru
i havent had any problems with this until now. osu doesnt re-open unless i restart my laptop and whwen i run the troubleshoot, it givess me this
The report is showing errors with respect to updating the osu! application. Could you try updating from osu!macOS Agent:

  1. Open osu!macOS Agent
  2. Click the Other tab
  3. Click Update osu!
Alternatively the executable binary directly from home/ and replace it within your application

  1. osu.exe from osu-ppy-sh.tvgratuite.org/home/.
  2. Locate where osu!.app (your Wineskin) is installed
  3. Right click on it and select Show Package Contents
  4. You should now see three files/folders: Contents, drive_c and Wineskin. Click drive_c.
  5. From here, click osu!.
  6. From here, locate osu!.exe and replace this file with the updated version that you just ed. Make sure you keep the filename the same.

Not much happening, just trying to debug different issues :)

Wineskin.app replacement 3i2j1h

If you are experiencing issues with Wineskin.app, you can try ing it separately.

Instructions: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/wineskin.html#resolution

link: https://minhaskamal.github.io/DownGit/#/home?url=https://github.com/aidswidjaja/osu-mac/tree/main/src/wineskin or https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Gz5Y0M4WoMxTTwb5aHUccebO5AlVm3SN?usp=sharing
  1. Click the Link above
  2. If using Google Drive, click ALL in the top-right corner of the screen
  3. It will this as a zip file. Extract the zip file until you just have the Wineskin.app file
  4. Inside osu!.app (Right click > Show Package Contents) locate Wineskin.app - make a backup of it (you can just rename it to say something like Wineskin.app.backup if you want)
  5. Move the new version of Wineskin.app from Google Drive into osu!.app
  6. Try and open it and see if everything works out.
Please be advised if that this hasn't been tested and that distributing the Wineskin.app file on its own is completely experimental so it might not fix your issues. But definitely let me know if there are any problems with it :)

thank you very much, now i can open properly winskin.app

I have another issue, I can't open .osz files directly with osu!, so I have to open the folder Song and put them there, when I try to open an .osz file it shows a warning saying there's no windows program that can open that file....is there any way to fix it?
I'm running osu! for Catalina on High Sierra

Yea this is unfortunately a known issue so the best alternative is to use osu!macOS Agent.

It's an upstream issue with Gcenx's Wineskins wrapper so I'm not sure on what they're planning to do about the issue, it's more likely that the double click to open functionality won't ever be available in modern wineskins but we will see I guess

Edit: mobile editing sucks
Hey, so the MacOS Agent seems to override the "damaged and must be moved to trash" issue, but double clicking on the app afterwards brings up the terminal, which then crashes, and Osu doesn't open. Here's a c/p of the troubleshoot. I'm probably just missing something super obvious but I'd appreciate any help!

If it is still in the s folder then make sure osu!macOS Agent is open and running while ing a beatmap. If it did get moved to the Songs folder make sure to hit F5 to reload like on Windows.

0009:fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000100

It indicates that there is an issue with the execute.bat file included with the Wineskin that triggers osu! to run.

Could you please make sure:
  1. that inside Wineskin options that "C:\osu!\execute.bat" is the executable target set. This should be under the Windows EXE field in the Configuration tab.
  2. that inside osu!.app/drive_c/osu!/execute.bat, which is a batch/text file that can be opened using TextEdit, the following text is written.
    start C:\osu!\bridge.exe -nosplash
    start C:\osu!\osu!.exe
  3. if that fails, try and set the previously mentioned Windows EXE field from C:\osu!\execute.bat to C:\osu!\osu!.app - note that discord rich presence will no longer work if this step is performed
  4. Try running a Test Run again with the above steps performed and feel free to leave a log down here if its still not working

Need help this holidays?

It's been nice being able to try and help people out this year, and doing my best to help Techno, Oblivious and the osu! team in trying to troubleshoot problems. Especially over the past month or two I've tried to be pretty active down here so that someone can keep the thread alive. After today (23 Dec 2020 AEDT) I'll probably try and stop myself from looking at this thread until 1 Jan 2020 AEDT. I realise that many of the other regulars here will probably be inactive during this time, so I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone expecting over the next week should probably know that myself and the majority of people will likely be inactive on the forums. (I don't think I even monitor other threads other than this one really, I think the team has done a lot of excellent work there.)

Of course anyone is welcome to provide what help they can to others in this thread (and you should definietly leave any questions/logs/reports you have in the thread) but if you need quick help and the forums are inactive over the holidays then you can take a look at this site https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io which should provide some info into ing wrappers and troubleshooting common errors. There is also a list of alternative resources here - https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/about/resources.html. Enjoy your holidays!

tl:dr; during holiday inactivity check out https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io and https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/about/resources.html for help, still leave your questions/logs/reports down here for help but please note that response times may be slower.

Hello
I just installed osu on my macbook pro, seems to work perfectly fine
Even thought I have some issues, I wonder if it can be solved, I'm using a gaming mouse and with an usb usb-c adapter and it works fine browsing and playing small games, but then in osu the cursor doesn't follow me perfectly, it's nearly impossible to aim correctly, I can't even do more than 3 stars maps. It's so smooth on the menu and slow in game.

Is there any possible fix, driver update or thing I can do to make it more playable? Thanks !

err, sounds like your install is corrupted terribly... do you happen to have the Apple error report? If you do, please paste it into a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com and I'll be happy to have a look through it. But either way if you can reinstall and make sure the following is all good:

- no antivirus is removing files
- that the insides of osu!.app/drive_c/osu! look normal and everything

for some reason this wineskin doesnt work for me anymore it wont let me open and when i check the osu folder there is no longer a beatmap and skin folder, and only contains 2 files. The format of the package contents look different than usual and I am stuck, please help
It's possible that an antivirus software is removing files from your installation. This is evident if the package contents of osu!.app aren't normal anymore. The easiest way to fix this unfortunately is to reinstall the Wineskin. Please make sure you backup your original data before doing this - you can transfer your data using the steps here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/welcome/transfer.html

I believe that with osu! M1 does work (haven't tested it myself even though I have access to an M1 computer - if this is something the community needs I'll be happy to do it) as expressed by other people. We're still waiting on a final confirmation from Gcenx (the creator of the unofficial WineskinServer) here https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer/issues/65 so you can monitor that if you're technically curious. However I think that it should work and I can at least one person who did get it working.

Could you try running osu!macOS Agent (you may need to use Rosetta 2) and running a scan, then copy & paste the logs to a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com. Also please run a Test Run in Wineskin. Instructions for a osu!macOS Agent scan available here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-a-report-with-osu-macos-agent and steps to doing a Wineskin test run is here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin

As I mentioned to Jasonwhj21 I believe that M1 has worked with osu! before but there is no definitive confirmation. I don't think I've had the song load stall issue before so could you try doing a Test Run and copy-pasting the logs to a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com using the instructions here: https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin - this will help people to diagnose the issue. In regards to mouse settings, I think what might help you here is enabling some of the ingame osu! options. Enabling the options Raw input or Mapping absolute raw input might help with mouse positioning. See https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/input.html for more info

As for keystroke lag input, this could just be general performance issues. There are some tweaks you could probably adjust for better overall performance so let me know if you need any ideas. But generally performance tweaking and workarounds like universal offset is the same as regular osu! on Windows.

Hi. I really want to install the wineskin but I recently had another device that got hacked after I tried to install free RAM. Is there any way for me to that I'm not installing some complex trojan?
Firstly, your hacking prank in our Discord server failed. So next time you have issues with computers please ask someone more experienced (like your friend here) first ;) <-- that's a winky face

Secondly, many issues beforehand have found false positives for trojans in the Wineskin, you can explore this issue at https://github.com/Gcenx/WineskinServer/issues/48 and https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/malware.html but tl;dr: it is a false positive and you need to whitelist it within your antivirus if you do get a report of a trojan.

Are you talking about the game crashing? Or is it simply dying after a number of missed clicks. You should also be able to play on harder levels regardless of performance in previous beatmaps.

If your beatmap is experiencing crashes/other issues please copy a log using osu!macOS Agent and make a Test Run with Wineskin. Instructions available here https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-a-report-with-osu-macos-agent and here https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin respectively.

If there aren't crashes or other weird behaviour, then this is intended behaviour. If you're new to playing osu!, check out this beginner's tutorial by ztrot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mswLEXK0eDk

You're always free to suggest , but this is a troubleshooting thread! can go here: community/forums/2

Hopefully everyone had a good holidays, once again feel free to reply if you have issues/would like to help someone else out. Would definitely appreciate anyone who is able to share the load if you feel you're up to it :D

I've tried to optimize the game as much as I could and it's actually fine now, not as good as on windows but close !
Steel-series is providing a software which disables mouse acceleration on MAC OS (that helped a lot)
Then I enable raw input on osu settings and that was pretty much it for the mouse settings.
As for the keystrokes, I've put some offset (-17ms) which seems fine in the gameplay but the sound comes late (click sound) I now have to get used to it !
Thanks
I've been basically lurking this thread for a while, but I'm kind of stuck now. I'm using an M1 MacBook Air, and I've had the problem where osu! tries to open but says:
C:osu!>start C:\osu!\bridge.exe
C:osu!>start C:\osu!\osu!.exe -nosplash
.
I tried opening the Wineskin to do a test run, but it didn't open and showed the exec(number).bat does not exist error, so I followed the steps listed above for that (which didn't work for me). I ed the other Wineskin and moved it into the osu! package contents, which worked and Wineskin opened now. However, whenever I try to do a test run, it crashes and shows a problem report saying Wineskin quit.
If you need, I should be able to provide the crash report - it says something about 'thread 7' crashing.
.

Here's a step-by-step with logs to help clarify the problem, because I really do think we're all experiencing the same thing. I'm starting with everything uninstalled, no anti-virus software, M1 macbook pro, using The Unarchiver for all purposes.

6. Right clicked the Wineskin icon inside Package contents and went Wineskin -> Contents -> MacOS -> Wineskin to run directly from terminal.
7. Inside Wineskin app, went Advanced -> Test Run. This crashes the program and generates apple crash report. https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/pfvsJr9xYQ/
8. Double checked that inside Winskin app, Windows EXE is set to "C:\osu!\execute.bat" and that osu!.app/drive_c/osu!/execute.bat text is correct.
9. Changed Windows EXE from C:\osu!\execute.bat to C:\osu!\osu!.app and pressed test run. This also crashes the program and generates an apple crash report.

Hopefully this step-by-step helps explain the issue a little better! I'm working off a fresh computer (didn't back up old data or anything) so there shouldn't be any underlying software conflicts or anything like that.

Thanks !

FIXED: You can actually deactivate the mac mouse acceleration from an application: Looked at a tutorial on youtube here's the link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzZUeBD5Yp0

Still have some imput lag on the keystrokes tho
In regards to mouse settings, I think what might help you here is enabling some of the ingame osu! options. Enabling the options Raw input or Mapping absolute raw input might help with mouse positioning. See https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/input.html for more info

As for keystroke lag input, this could just be general performance issues. There are some tweaks you could probably adjust for better overall performance so let me know if you need any ideas. But generally performance tweaking and workarounds like universal offset is the same as regular osu! on Windows.
Thanks
Sounds great! Thanks for sharing your setup too~

Please make sure that you're using The Unarchiver to extract all zip files and no antivirus is removing files off your computer. If that doesn't work, please refer to the info provided to gravity below.

Hi there! Could you please copy and paste your osu!macOS Agent report (https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-a-report-with-osu-macos-agent) and make a Test Run with Wineskin (https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin) - thanks!
If you're experiencing the same error as gravity, please see below for more.

I did the above steps!

Step 1 was already complete.

Step 2 was complete as well -- the "-nosplash" was after the osu!.exe and not the bridge, but I think that may be a typo on your end compared to what's listed upthread -- either way, I tried both variations to no avail.

Step 3: After setting the EXE field to the suggested, double clicking on the OSU App simply opens the Wineskin interface that you'd get by just opening Wineskin from the Package Contents.

Step 4: Weirdly, after completing the above steps, Wineskin no longer allows me to do a test run -- upon clicking the button, it just immediately crashes the program and I get an Apple error report.
err, sounds like your install is corrupted terribly... do you happen to have the Apple error report? If you do, please paste it into a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com and I'll be happy to have a look through it. But either way if you can reinstall and make sure the following is all good:

- you're using The Unarchiver (https://theunarchiver.com/) instead of the in-built Archive Utility
- no antivirus is removing files
- that the insides of osu!.app/drive_c/osu! look normal and everything

Feel free to run a Test Run after your install and copy-paste the logs to a pastebin if you're still having problems.
I started from a fresh re-install -- I think I'm having the same problem other M1 s are talking about this thread but I might have complicated things somewhat before. Here's a step-by-step with logs to help clarify the problem, because I really do think we're all experiencing the same thing. I'm starting with everything uninstalled, no anti-virus software, M1 macbook pro, using The Unarchiver for all purposes.

1. ed latest wineskin. Extracted using The Unarchiver.
2. ed osu!macOS Agent, extracted and opened, scanned and repaired.

Thanks for your super detailed explanation!

It's definitely possible that M1 s could be suffering from this issue, but it's really hard for me to treat this since a) I haven't experienced the issue first hand b) in the past people fixed this issue by ensuring that files weren't removed.

I want to do a bit more research on this since it seems to be a widespread issue. There's a few things I'd like to try but I'll need some more time first. And if this issue is in fact recurring across all M1 Macs (despite their being previous instances of success) or even just a common issue that isn't limited to any platform, I'd definitely like to either communicate this to Technocoder (who maintains the Wineskin and is on hiatus now) or Gcenx who maintains the WineskinServer.

to anyone experiencing issues with their Wineskin 1e3z4

especially on M1 Macs or Big Sur.

If you're experiencing any of the following:
- exec(number).bat could not be found error (while trying to open Wineskin)
- osu!.app doesn't do anything when clicked - after following all installation instructions
- osu!.app opens a command line window when clicked, then immediately closes - after following all installation instructions
- Wineskin crashes when attempting to perform a Test Run

Please send me the following (apologies if you have already done this, feel free to link it to an earlier post again)
- osu!macOS Agent report (https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-a-report-with-osu-macos-agent)
- Wineskin Test Run (https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin)
- Apple Crash Report (if applicable - this usually triggers after Test Run)

the reason I ask is because if this does turn out to be an upstream issue with the WineskinServer I'll need to file a bug report on the GitHub. However, hopefully there is a simple fix that I'm missing here :) and on that note, if you do happen to fix the issue, do let us all know here!

I may try and do an install on my sister's laptop (which is a M1 MBA) but that might take a while to do.

thanks everyone :)

The Apple crash report after trying to do a Wineskin test run is really long. Do I still put it here (probably in a pastebin as mentioned), and is there anything I should exclude before pasting it all?
also sorry for the late response!

The whole crash report in a Pastebin if you can. Your name may appear in the report so if you'd like to keep that private, give it a find and replace with your name.

3. Double clicked Osu! to open: Wineskin briefly flashes open, then immediately closes. See image: https://imgur.com/a/OvoTurK
4. Right clicked osu to access package contents -- drive_c -> osu! -> logs. only log present is update.log
5. Went back to package contents and double clicked Wineskin to open -- following error presented https://imgur.com/a/xjPuVzj

And if this issue is in fact recurring across all M1 Macs (despite their being previous instances of success) or even just a common issue that isn't limited to any platform, I'd definitely like to either communicate this to Technocoder (who maintains the Wineskin and is on hiatus now) or Gcenx who maintains the WineskinServer.

aidswidjaja: to anyone experiencing issues with their Wineskin
especially on M1 Macs or Big Sur.

I did use The Unarchiver, and I don't have any antivirus installed (unless there's an in-built one I didn't know existed)

The Apple crash report after trying to do a Wineskin test run is really long. Do I still put it here (probably in a pastebin as mentioned), and is there anything I should exclude before pasting it all?
also sorry for the late response!
Yes please! the reason we ask is because if this is actually a common issue - or an issue with WineskinServer itself, the developers will need logs.

You can use a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com - that is preferable

The whole crash report in a Pastebin if you can. Your name may appear in the report so if you'd like to keep that private, give it a find and replace with your name.

Really sorry for not staying active on this thread. Been busy with university applications and my internship but I'm getting used to my workload now so I should be able to start helping out in some greater capacity by the end of this month. aidswidjaja literally carrying the entire macOS team.

It's getting hard to track who's been replied to and what information they've provided. I wonder if it'd be better to start tracking help requests on the Help Forum instead...
Welcome back :D and good luck with your uni applications.

I will do my best to try and get to the bottom of the recent Thread 7 issues people have been having. They've been happening for a while too. Will report back later if I find anything interesting - might try a fresh osu install on my sister's M1 and diagnose it there

And yes I agree there needs to be a better way of keeping track of all the issues. I haven't been monitoring the Help section though at all, but possibly could we get a subforum on the Help thread (or another) for just macOS/Linux osu! Wine installs? Or at the very least suggest prefixing a post title with `macOS: ` so we can find it easily.

and to everyone else experiencing issues we haven't forgotten about you, I will try troubleshooting as much as I can but as Techno said its hard to track who still has pending issues, so please feel free to bump your issue with a new reply :)

Press the Update osu! button under the Other tab.
Its working perfectly!! thank you so much!! ;D
Ok so I've been trying to get this to work for about a day and I'm pretty stumped on what to do at this point. I have followed each instruction as stated and I have no errors on troubleshooting, but when I try opening osu, the terminal opens for a moment, runs two command lines then just closes with nothing

I've ed the wineskin, there are no errors when trouble shooting, bridge.exe is present, went and turned off the quarantine on the console in case it was that

When I try accessing the wineskin to try and install older versions, this error is given "'exec4213618756.bat' is missing"

Any help I may get here? It would be very much so appreciated

Hi there!

Could you please make sure

- You have no antivirus removing files
- You are using The Unarchiver to extract the zip file instead of the in-built Archive Utility
- You have run a report using Technocoder's osu!macOS Agent (feel free to attach this in another reply)

As for the Wineskin.app returning exec.bat missing, you can an experimental replacement version https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/wineskin.html however this is unlikely to fix your wrapper, but will possibly allow you to perform a Test Run as demonstrated at https://osu-mac.readthedocs.io/en/latest/issues/troubleshooting.html#generating-logs-for-wineskin - if this works you can copy the contents of the Test Run into a pastebin such as paste.ubuntu.com and drop it in a reply here - we'd be happy to take a look at it

Failing all of the above, you are probably experiencing the same issue as numerous other s have reported over the last couple months. We are currently in the process of trying to figure out the issue!

Thanks

--

On another general note for everyone, I'll try to do a fresh osu! install on an M1 tomorrow and report back - out with some friends today :) - I'm hoping this demonstrates some of the issues others have been experiencing and it will be easier for me to troubleshoot running on bare metal in front of me

so... osu! randomly decided to work when I clicked to Test Run on Wineskin.
(image here: https://ibb.co/ry3tPwy)

These were the test logs, by the way.
Test Run
err:thread:get_image_addr dyld image info is above 4GB limit for 32-bit-on-64-bit process

Then everything went downhill :)

I was getting 40-50 fps even when plugged into charger, so I tried to see if turning on Compatibility Mode would help.
osu! crashed when restarting!! The error said something about graphics drivers but I forgot to screenshot it, but it did make me google possible fixes.
A fix I saw said to go to the osu.cfg file and change what was in the _ReleaseStream line to Stable. (It was at Stable40, so I changed it to Stable.) This didn't help, and osu! now showed a different error that looked like this: https://ibb.co/YXjP511 (Reversing the change back to Stable40 doesn't change anything, same error)
When I click yes, it sends me to a Microsoft page that says to a .exe file that would probably help if I wasn't using a Mac.

I tried test running 3 times yesterday and today, and for some reason it succeeded the first and third try but failed the second try.

Apple error log when it failed: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/wQ23NqCZys/ (apparent correction - thread 9 was the one that crashed, not 7)
Wineskin test log (on 3rd try): https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/2jvXyT7yhg/
