I accidently woke up an hour too early. I thought I had heard my alarm go off but that wasn't true. I planned to go to sleep but instead I spend 40 minutes on the truth or dare thread thinking of a certain line of Puzzle's latest truth. I spent that rest of the time on OT. My alarm went of and I went inside the kitchen to prepare myself for school.
Then my mother told me school was closed due to snowstorm.

That sounds so canadian.
In Canada it is actually really normal to have school and other buisness and services to close down due to snowstorm. I don't think I ever spent a single winter without there being at least one day off for snowstorm.
Here (speciffically, the place where I live) is really common to have a whole month of sunshine. There are like less than 15 days in the year where there's no sunshine. Even so it's rare for temperature to sur 36º, even if UV index is almost always between 9-12 at noon.

Many Canadian complain about our cokd temperature but honestly I really like it.
Handeling the cold is a lot easier than handeling the warmth. Plus having the country be frozen for half a year means that we don't have any dangerous bugs. The most dangerous bug you'll come across here are wasp. We also don't have any really dangerous predators. Wolves and bears are as deadly as they get and they are not likely to get anywhere near the city.
Plus it gives Canada a sort of identity that very few nations have. There are tons of ridiculously hot place in the world but very few place that are know for being super cold (mostly because two countries takes up basically all of the north)

Meanwhile you'll find here a HUGE variety of bugs. You might get stung by ants, mosquitoes, centipedes (IT HURTS LIKE HELL) and be invaded by flies; Not to tell that it is very common to have your screen invaded by all sort of bugs specially after rain. There are lots of good insects too.
Anyway, all species surely have its role in nature and the extinction of one would unbalance the ecosystem so it's better to let them be.
It must be nice to have a 9000000 Km2 country with less than 40 million people where animals and people live in a way they *mostly* don't disturb each other.
