I just played it too and I think this pattern is overkill.
You can call this emphasize but I want to call this overkill..
I agree it needs to be emphasize since you're following vocals which are usually unstable, but the intensity is not that high to justify the spacing, something similar to 04:48:987 (1,2,3) - would do just fineFatfan Kolek wrote: 1v70e

I need to disqualify this due the following problems on the Catch the Beat difficulty.

00:18:516 (1,1) - Just what is this Hyper out of nowhere following nothing? Even if this is overdose I can't overlook this.
03:37:876 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - These doesn't sounds like 1/3 to me in fact the rest of the difficulties are using 1/2 and 1/4 to cover this part. I recommend the rhythm of the osu! difficulty to use or at least something similar one.

Holy crap I can't believe I ed the Overdose ;_;
For me it the AR was the difficult thing and I could handle the HP, except almost for 2 parts when I almost died because of fails omg, but overall it was pretty fun for being pretty fast to read! Comparing it to other Overdose beatmaps, it really nailed it in my opinion and fit the style of the song, didn't go with lots of curve slider/ patterns which made it feel sort of like... inorganic, unnatural like the song, as it was made only with electronic sounds and instruments.
Well that's my opinion! I liked it ^_^

As much as I would love to believe your quote from 9 months ago has any relevance today, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to use some common sense. Believe it or not, one QAT's opinion is not the be all end all to any discussion, especially when the QAT in question does not have the best track record as of recently. I'm just tired and wanna rank this already... It's kinda frustrating that people come out of their holes as soon as this is qualified instead of trying to help when It's still pending Idk... You probably haven't ed the set before, but seeing errors and errors after every new Approval really makes me want to delete this mapset as i already spent countless hours on it trying to reach out to people to help me with all the diffs and the sb and so on, there' no end
It's really not that much to fix. I know it's frustrating and I've been there before. I really haven't seen this map before and I'm sorry that it's happening often, but at the very least I'd like to see stuff addressed. I'm okay if it's all declined (with reasoning) but at the very least I hope everything is dealt with reasonably.
This is exactly what 'qualified state' exists for though. Maps are in qualified state for 7 days to let people aware about this set so that more people can say about things if something is wrong or can be improved. I was thinking about modding the ctb diff while it was qualified, but decided not to because the things I would point out would not be enough to justify a dq. However, since the owner requested a dq, I'll point out some things that could improve the map while considering your old vision for this.
Overdose
I'll keep that in mind while going through this. I respect that you want to keep your old style, but there are some small things that I think could be changed to just improve general quality. Overdose
- 00:15:036 (2) - If you move this to the other side, it emphasises the snare better. It's also inconsistent with 00:19:836 (2) - , so it should be fixed.
- 00:15:876 (2) - If you curve/rotate this slider a bit, it gives better slider leniancy, improves flow, and decreases the hyper distance to make it more consistent with other hypers with this sound.
- 00:57:876 (1,1) - If you ctrl-g these individually, the basic antiflow would give better emphasis to the music, since there's a significant increase in pitch from 2 to 3
- 01:05:916 (2) - Same as the first point about snare emphasis
- 01:22:836 (1,2,3) - I'm not sure why these are getting further apart from each other, since the vocals is decreasing in pitch, and the high pitch electronic thing in the background was already playing before this pattern. The change in spacing isn't ed by the music at all. Just change this so it's consistent with the previous three circles.
- 01:54:057 (2) - This circle is incredibly hard to read. You spent 25 seconds of conditioning the player to head inwards, but this is the only circle on the outside. I'd say it'd be fine for old mapping, but it's not in this case because you didn't use this pattern anywhere else on places that could have used a flow break better.
- 02:04:390 (1,2,1) - 1/4 to 1/2 hyperdashes are unrankable in the current ranking criteria for rain, but whatever (it plays more as a rain to be fair).
- 03:16:447 (1,2) - The slider ends need to be quieter, they sound really weird currently. Also, why are the timing points on 1/16 when the notes aren't on the same tick. I'd suggest you change the slider rhythm around this section to match the rhythm better, the timing points fall on more important beats and would follow the song better

I deleted MaskD2-9 to MaskD2-14 as they were unused, because of an error in the coding, serena and me even found a solution to use all 15 frames, but then the facial movement would've looked unnatural, so i decided to delete those from the folder

so storyboard should be fixed now, i just need to wait for ming to go through his diff again and then we can requalify it
and don't forget to delete and re the mapset now if you've ed before 1/17

Overall snapping should be fine,
EDIT: confirmed with Feerum, 1/6 is alright for 05:11:032 - so you don't need to start 1/8 there.

I was thinking about modding the ctb diff while it was qualified, but decided not to because the things I would point out would not be enough to justify a dq. However, since the owner requested a dq, I'll point out some things that could improve the map while considering your old vision for this.
Overdose
I'll keep that in mind while going through this. I respect that you want to keep your old style, but there are some small things that I think could be changed to just improve general quality. - 00:15:036 (2) - If you move this to the other side, it emphasises the snare better. It's also inconsistent with 00:19:836 (2) - , so it should be fixed. nope. you should check it more carefully. the first one i followed the instrumental sounds so i make HDash jump to 00:15:036 - . and starts from 00:18:516 - , when the instrumentals are over i followed the drums, so the HDash jump must be 00:19:956 -
- 00:15:876 (2) - If you curve/rotate this slider a bit, it gives better slider leniancy, improves flow, and decreases the hyper distance to make it more consistent with other hypers with this sound. i keep mine with the vertical movements instead of curving
- 00:57:876 (1,1) - If you ctrl-g these individually, the basic antiflow would give better emphasis to the music, since there's a significant increase in pitch from 2 to 3 giving a flow pattern at 00:56:916 (1,1,1,1) - not a bad idea for me
- 01:05:916 (2) - Same as the first point about snare emphasis same too for the reason
- 01:22:836 (1,2,3) - I'm not sure why these are getting further apart from each other, since the vocals is decreasing in pitch, and the high pitch electronic thing in the background was already playing before this pattern. The change in spacing isn't ed by the music at all. Just change this so it's consistent with the previous three circles. i just gave an bigger movements there, from small to a bit big, just to make it a bit variative
- 01:54:057 (2) - This circle is incredibly hard to read. You spent 25 seconds of conditioning the player to head inwards, but this is the only circle on the outside. I'd say it'd be fine for old mapping, but it's not in this case because you didn't use this pattern anywhere else on places that could have used a flow break better. a yes you're right. because there isnt any space anymore, im forced to break the pattern, even though it's abit unreadable, but it's still okay since the movements are near and it's catchable (if the player has moved to the left side)
- 02:04:390 (1,2,1) - 1/4 to 1/2 hyperdashes are unrankable in the current ranking criteria for rain, but whatever (it plays more as a rain to be fair). i dont really know about the current ranking criteria now, and since this one is an overdose and approval map, giving them are not problem and acceptable imo
- 03:16:447 (1,2) - The slider ends need to be quieter, they sound really weird currently. Also, why are the timing points on 1/16 when the notes aren't on the same tick. I'd suggest you change the slider rhythm around this section to match the rhythm better, the timing points fall on more important beats and would follow the song better nope. i always used the timing slider among the notes (like i used on this), not exact at the note's tick

- I was reading Sinoh's mod and I'm agree with him/her about the current transition between 00:14:676 (1,2,1) -, also I saw your reply but I want to say that you should be constant on what you wanna follow when you want to add a hyperdash, I saw the whole diff and I can say that your hdashes are following drums the most part of the song, the sound at 00:15:036 - isn't noticeable at all and doesn't deserve hdash, so I recommend you to move 00:15:036 (2) - to x:392
- 00:15:876 (2) - why not change into 2 notes? the reason is because I think that clap at 00:15:876 - is very noticeable, also there is a drum after it on 00:16:116 - ( in the beginning of the 1/4 stream ), that's why I feel that a movement between 00:15:876 - and 00:16:116 - matches the sounds perfectly, about the hyperdash, you could move the current one between 00:15:876 - and 00:16:116 - too, as I said before a movement here to enphasize such clap and drum is very important, so if you change 00:15:876 (2) - into notes, the note of 00:15:876 - should be closer to 00:15:156 (1) -, take a look at 00:34:356 (3,1,2,3,4,5) - as a reference. Fatfan Kolek wanted my opinion here so I guess I'll do so. I'm still not a fan of some of the stuff you rejected (the one dimensional movements in the kiai are still pretty boring to me), but mostly the map looks okay. It comes down to the fact that I'm a newer mapper and you're an oldstyle mapper so not much can be seen past stylistically. Good luck with the set!
Was requested for some thoughts on some stuff, and I came up with additional thoughts for other stuff:
- You should check your NC usage, as there are a lot of places where it's plain weird and illogical. For example, there are a few places where you have combos with low fruits that could be removed (e.g. 00:21:876 (1,2) - ), NCs on weaker beats (e.g. 00:26:916 (1) - ) and even places where you have single note combos (e.g. 00:12:756 (1,1,1,1) -, 00:19:956 (1) - ). I strongly recommend going through your diff to ensure coherent, consistent and logical NC usage.
- 00:14:676 (1,2,1) - I'll also vote in favor of having the HDash between (2,1) rather than (1,2), to emphasize the snare. Also applies for other parts, such as those Sinnoh mentioned.
- I also agree that some near vertical sliders provide awkward flow and may be acc killers. For example, it's not that hard to miss some droplets on 00:19:836 (2,1) - after the strong 1/4 HDash.
- 00:27:156 (2,3,4,5,6) - I also agre with -Sh1n1- that the hyperdash should be between (5,6) rather than (4,5). The initial 4-plet is rather a constant pitch, while on the slider there's a pitch change and you additionally added a finish hitsound, so it makes way more sense to add that dash.
- 00:43:236 (4,1,2) - The double HDash feels really weird, as 00:43:716 (2) - isn't as strong as the sound at (1). I'd go for a spacing more closer to 00:42:516 (1,2) - instead.
- 00:46:836 (2,3) - Might be a bit hard for some players to catch after the HDash, since it's relatively close to the distance that triggers the HDash. I'd move it a bit to the left to add some leniency to this dash. Alternatively, you could move both 00:46:596 (1,2) - 1 grid space closer to the center each, as it both reduces the HDash strength and the distance after it, giving that leniency I'm asking for.
- 00:55:476 (3,4,1) - These distance being the same doesn't really feel right, as (4) is stronger than (1) in this case. I'd move 00:55:956 (1,2) - a bit to the right, maybe x:96 or so, to make that second distance smaller.
- 01:21:876 (1,2,3) - This is so much different to the pattern you've been using that it always throws me off when I play it. I'd go for the usual pattern you used, like 01:23:796 (1,2) - .
- 01:27:156 (4,5,6,7,8) - I also agree with -Sh1n1- that making this curve to the left instead provides better flow.
- 01:29:556 - Add break please, it drains about 1/3 of the HP bar over nothing.
- 02:04:390 (1,2,1) - Having two HDashes of different snapping can be a bit difficult to play (hence why we disallowed in Rain difficulties on the newer Ranking Criteria). While it's okay in this difficulty level, I'd reduce the strength of the 1/2 HDash here to add a bit of leniency. Something like moving 02:04:724 (2) - to x:480 and 02:05:057 (1) - to x:32 already gives some more leniency.
- 02:31:724 (3,1) - Similar issue here, and in this case this isn't expected at all given your previous patterning. I think you can replace 02:31:724 (3,1) - with a mirrored version of 02:31:057 (1,2) - , and add a circle on 02:32:390 - with an HDash to it.
- 03:23:304 (1,2) - The thing I said about vertical sliders being acc killers after strong HDashes also applies here, so maybe try to curve the slider a bit? Same applies on 03:26:733 (1,2) -, 03:33:590 (1,2) - , 03:37:019 (1,2) - , 03:40:447 (1,2) -, 03:42:912 (4,1) - , 03:57:590 (1,2) -.
- 04:33:873 (2) - I'd move this a bit to the left, maybe x:352 or so, to add some leniency after some HDash. I don't care about symmetry so don't even use that as an excuse
- 04:36:714 (1,2) - The distance between these two requires a small tap dash that isn't required in any of the other slider pairs, so I'd reduce the distance between this sliders.
