osu! crashes when I close it through the menu - not with the "osu! has crashed!" dialog, but the standard Windows "osu! has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem" dialog box. It doesn't hurt anything, because it crashes when it's already all the way closed :P

My osu is also still hard crashing even though with another Fault Module name.

This has happened to me quite a few times:



It happens sometimes when I alt+tab away from osu and then come back to it. I haven't found a reliable way to reproduce it, it seems pretty random, but it always happens that way and is fixed by just moving the mouse.

I play 1920x1080 fullscreen

Looks like the rough size of the bounding box my cursor was stuck in (maybe a bit smaller) when alt-tabbing out sometimes. It was random outside fullscreen osu!, and had 100% chance of happening in editor. Though, I didn't get any graphical anomalies you got. Also haven't found a way to reproduce since last time I restarted osu!.

The latest updates to stable have been to prep for the next release. The debug builds work with Mac, but you need to some special steps to get it working. Please be patient, an update will be coming soon.

Regarding this. I now tried a few things to solve the problem like reinstall Drivers/Windows. I also tried to play osu on another pc. Same Crash Report.
Is this going to be adressed or not?

The yellow bar is probably a way of saying "hey, this build is experimental so don't freak out if anything weird happens", both to the player and anyone else who could be watching the game either on a livestream or on a recorded video.

So I guess you will have to change your progress bar location if the devs are not willing to move the yellow bar from the bottom of the screen.

On another PC with exactly the same crashlog? That seems really weird for me.

When you tried to run osu! on another PC, did you run the same installation or a different one? (Even if this has probably nothing to do with the problem, since the problem seems to come from nvoglv32.dll)

Same Crashlog besides Bucket Id and such of course. But im pretty sure its not on my end anyway. But who knows?

If you did try with the same installation, just in case, could you try to copy "osu!.exe", paste it into an empty folder and then run it?

cutting edge no longer maintains its windows size when winkey+shift+arrow is used to cycle through monitors and one is under resolution.

Can replicate. By the way, I guess that could be better to post it on the Cutting Edge thread instead of on a new thread, since it doesn't happen on Stable.

Just got a large re-work of the osu! rendering system into cutting edge. Please see if this improves performance / compatibility.

If you previously had issues running osu! with your discrete GPU, please try the new compatibility mode found in the options and see if that fixes your issues.

Seems like the colors are messed up when you take a screenshot with Compatibility mode enabled. with or without the Compatibility mode, it's the same.

Here since the beginning
Issue(s) in this thread have been addressed by the following changes:
  1. Fix screenshots having their blue and red colour channel swapped. (Tom94)
  2. Fix background videos having their blue and red colour channels swapped. (Tom94)
The changes will be applied to builds newer than b20150814.4cuttingedge.

Please follow up in this thread if you believe more work needs to be done to fix the mentioned issues. If they have not yet been resolved, please provide any new details that may have arisen after this build.

After latest update the game crashes when i'm trying to play any map. At first ten second i didn't see any problems but then FPS grew up from usual 1700 to unusual 2500-3400 and game was crashed. I can't even do screenshots, so
UPD: this issue happened only with two my skins, so i can't suggest what can be source of this trouble

It is possible that your GPU has an unstable clock and/or is overheating due to the additional frame rate it is pumping out with the new update. Try using a frame limiter to limit your FPS (you can adjust it to limit to 1500 or whatever you like in your osu! config) and see if it helps.

To do this go into your osu! folder, open "osu!.<your windows name>.cfg", then change "CustomFrameLimit" to whichever value you like.

And now Osu! is running with a black screen.

I actually don't think that is happening because of the Cutting Edge latest build... Hold Shift while opening osu! and change the release stream to Stable on the window that will pop up, to see if you can run it on Stable.

Some beatmaps seem to fail without reason at the end and it's reproducible every time. I this happening a long time ago on stable too
example beatmap ../s/144010, at least on "Rare's Hard" and "Insane"

I accidentally made this post about this earlier: p/4413391 ;_; what should I do?

Just figured out what causes it! It's somehow miscalculated length for the music, maybe related to the huge offset I have set in osu which is -112 ms. Appended ~6sec of silence to the mp3 file and it worked, reverted the changes and failed at full hp again.
commands used to fix it:

As I said, since you got a higher frame rate your GPU was under more stress. This is not a "new" issue, rather we optimized osu! to be able to go faster, which made your PC stumble. Please the skin in question, though, then I can check for myself if it causes problems for me.

Issue with skin.ini? What? I believe that nothing has changed on skin.ini from Stable to Beta and Cutting Edge...

And regarding the black screen on CE, I don't actually know. Could you try to run it with the new Compatibility mode enabled? Close osu!, go to your "osu!name.cfg" and change the line "CompatibilityContext" to: CompatibilityContext = 1 (change it while osu! is closed)

I tried first to run osu CE without reboot, blackscreen but no error message this time
After reboot, the error message came back and the blackscreen still here

What im not happy about is that since the update my FPS went down about 10-20%. Is this intended since the Renderer got updated again?

Well, the intention was to increment the performance, not to reduce it. So, probably there is still something wrong.

Did you by any chance enable compatibility mode? FPS should not have decreased unless you enabled compatibility mode. An exception is if you run osu! on a laptop with a discrete graphics card, in which case choosing the compatibility mode and forcing osu! to use the discrete graphics card may help.

I'm having issues with the new cutting edge build. It keeps crashing a few seconds into a song I try to play. Windows 7. Any ideas?

Does using a framelimiter help? (e.g. in the options, select 120 FPS)

this is caused by my offset! I played it with nofail and offset 0 and it didn't hang at the end, set my offset back and it hanged again!

Can someone confirm this happens when you set your offset below -112 or something?

o_O that's really weird. Can you try going into your osu! folder, opening "osu!.<your windows name>.cfg" and changing "CompatibilityContext = 0" to "CompatibilityContext = 1"?

On which operating system are you? What are your hardware specs? If you run in Windows XP, please an install Service Pack 3: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... #sptabs=xp

Or better: Upgrade your operating system. XP is no longer ed by microsoft. :p

Im not playing on a Laptop. I have no idea what the cause may be since i do not have Compability mode on either.

I don't feel that effect on my skins, as well as on Default skin. Probably I'm wrong, but I think it's still the same.

Yep my system is a little bit old haha, but I already have SP3. Also, I got few complains of my friends because of my perma -
The only thing that goes wrong is the blackscreen, however I have the music, I'm online and everything is working well. I just need more than a FL skill for playing Osu CE :x I'll try something, and if it didn't work, I'll retry an upgrade (got a beautiful bsod the first time haha)

Was also getting random crashes like 5 seconds after I open a map.
Changed skins and I can play fine now.

So problem is skin related?

I seem to have problems with mouse sensitivity.

For example the sensitivity is different when I open the options tab and move around within the boundary of the options list and when I move anywhere else in the osu window (sensitivity seems to be a lot less) Also doing small consistent circles using my mouse causes the cursor to move in a circle that doesn't stay in one spot.

Additionally in game there seems to be a sensitivity modifier even though I enabled raw input and 1x.

This doesn't happen (for me at least) in the stable build.

Okay so when i open osu and rapidly click on my desk top or a windows it starts as minimized, but it doesn't Start as in "Welcome to osu" is not played.

so while it was in minimized form i clicked a .ozs to Export it

Edit: I am on win 7 currently win10 and i run osu Full Screen Letter boxed mode i haven't tested it out in windowed mode but i guess it wont cause a problem there it's not there in windowed mode

Steps To Reproduce 2s5x2r

  1. While opening osu!beta or CE repeatedly click on your Desktop, it make osu minimized and not show "Welcome to osu" nor will the sound be played
  2. Click a osz file to import into osu
  3. Welcome is played on Song selection with broken interactions/Overlays provided in above Screenshot

Well, double post since it's a different issue. If it's not ok, I'm sorry.

When you scroll the options (click, drag and release the click), the text on the options gets a bit messed up.
Only noticeable in resolutions smaller than 1440x900.

I have the strange sensation that this has been reporteed before, but I don't actually know.

Only happens in CE.

Issue(s) in this thread have been addressed by the following changes:
  1. Disable recycling of text-textures. (Tom94)
The changes will be applied to builds newer than b20150815cuttingedge.

Please follow up in this thread if you believe more work needs to be done to fix the mentioned issues. If they have not yet been resolved, please provide any new details that may have arisen after this build.

My osu! crashes a few seconds after I start spectating/playing or start watching a replay when using Cutting-edge.

Does changing skins or enabling a frame limiter help? If yes, please the skin you are using while experiencing the crash.

Any further information you could provide? Such as a screenshot of what the crash shows, and your hardware specs? Please also gl_info.txt which can be found in your osu folder.

Does turning off Shaders in the options menu help? If not, does enabling the compatibility mode help?

Shaders were turned off already, experiencing no crashes under compatibility mode so far.

Could you try ing http://www.nvidia.de/object/geforce-experience-de.html and updating your graphics card driver to the latest one? I don't see any immediate issue with the relevant code and my particular card (which is also by nVidia) does not experience such crashes.

That is completely screwed... Close osu!, hold Shift while opening osu!, select Stable release stream and click on repair osu!. Let's see if that helps. If it doesn't, probably something is screwed on your osu! installation. If it does, try to go back to Cutting Edge and see if it's still happening.

If it's happening on any release stream, probably you will need to make a new osu! installation.

in stable mode it works fine but when i choose cutting edge that happens again

Hmm, is it happening on Beta? If it is happening on Beta too, could you try to change the release stream to Cutting Edge again and enable the Compatibility mode? If you can't from inside the game (because everything is screwed) try to hold Shift while opening osu! again and enable Compatibility mode from the configuration window.

Everything is fine in beta too tried changing to cutting edge after beta but it is still like that

Movement looks stuttery on the editor when playing a song, and I get considerably less fps while on the editor (800) than while playing (3400).




Also noticed that missing/sliderbreaking sprites are still often missing, so I can only hear the combo break sound with no visual clue of what happened but a note with no numbers at all (they just dissapear with no animation). This happens on like a 20-30% of the combo breaks. It happens on beta too, but not on stable.

Is there a way to use plain ol' OpenGL now? With WINE, the new GLES+ANGLE combination is really putting a damper on everything, probably because of ANGLE. Cutting Edge has the same bad performance as Stable now since both use DirectX :(

Also, why move from just straight GL to having "GLES -> ANGLE-> DirectX"? Could it possible to make it so we can switch between the two, or a switch between ANGLE and the built-in EGL or WGL libraries if you can't switch between GL and GLES? That would really help us WINE s a lot!

I think you're misunderstanding. We moved from OpenGL to OpenGL ES, which guaranteed more compatibility across platforms. Angle is not even activated unless you turn on compatibility mode. If you're getting worse performance, you'll need to fix your wine environment or wait for our official release on linux.

Update your graphics drivers, reboot, and try again, please. Please also tell us what hardware (and operating system) you are using and please your gl_info.txt file, found in your osu! directory.

When you go to testplay at editor and turn on autoplay, then go back - crash, happens on last cutting edge build, and doesn't happen on stable.

I am having an issue, whenever I try and set my osu! to cutting edge, it doesn't it.

There is a slight drop in FPS with cutting edge versus beta. It's very small for me but public slack people seem to have larger drops.

I don't feel that effect on my skins, as well as on Default skin. Probably I'm wrong, but I think it's still the same.
Difference is pretty clear though, not sure why this suddenly happens (is something changed about skin settings). Don't really know how to edit the cursor trail duration, but I disabled it for now.

Due to huge particle optimizations in a recent patch, the cursor trail's length is no longer capped and can become much longer during fast movements. I see what you mean, though, and a skin.ini setting sounds pretty nice.
