Hello again! Welcome to the second Monthly Fanart Contest! Each month we’ll be suggesting a different theme for artwork. The first contest went overwhelmingly well! Last month we went with a basic theme, but this month, let's shake it up a bit:

osu! Around the World!



This is an intentionally open-ended theme, so go wild! Some possibilities include fanart of new or existing international osu! mascots, fanart of Pippi or other osu! characters in exotic or iconic worldwide locations, literal interpretations of the game of osu! being played or represented around the world, or anything else you can think of! Themes of travel and togetherness are what we have in mind. Once again a osu! tablet, which should come in handy for drawing as well as playing.

Some Rules:

1. Artwork must be, in some way, related to the month's theme. In this case, "osu! Around the World!"
2. Everything in your image must be your own work, or something you have explicit permission to use in this contest!
3. Don't include any copyrighted characters. Including your own original characters alongside osu! characters is fine.
4. Images must be G-rated and safe-for-work
5. You must post a web-friendly (600px by 600px maximum) image in this thread
6. You must ALSO link to a much larger print-friendly image (at least 1000px by 1000px, as high as possible) for possible merch use.
7. There's no limit to the number of entries per person, but please keep all of your submissions in one forum post
8. Deadline for entries is June 6th, 2014.

By entering, you agree to let us use your art on the osu! website, social media s, and merchandise. While this isn't a merch design contest per se, if we do decide to use your image on a t-shirt or other item, you will get a free one!

Only entries that follow all rules will be considered. There will be two winners each month, one chosen by public poll, and one chosen by osu! staff. Each winner will get a one-year osu! er tag and an osu! tablet.

Let me know if anything needs clarifying, otherwise, post away!

*So nobody feels left out, the two primary winners of last month's contest will also receive the osu!tablets. And because the quality and quantity of entries last month were so overwhelming, we'll also be giving out one-month er tags as consolation prizes to select favorites. If this month's contest is similar, we'll do the same thing again.

We had some amazing entries last month guys. Can't wait to see what happens this time around!

A number of entries from the last one were drawn on paper and photographed with a camera. It's not ideal, but if you can capture it in decent quality so the personality of the drawing shines though, there's hope

If you're gonna do a troll or stick figure entry at least make a token attempt to tie it to this month's theme, dudes.

Anybody else confused by the theme, one example is Primrea, a mascot that the #filipino players created to represent their community. p/2978265/ You could make up your own mascot character to represent your country. Or you could draw pippi in your country, or any other country that you think is interesting. The entries here so far with the globes and/or flags are also a valid interpretation of the theme.

Traditional art is fine! If you can scan it in at a nice resolution that would be the best! Multiple entries are fine, but please add them all to the same post in the thread.

pippi is original to osu!, whereas those 2 are from Elite Beat Agents. hence why they haven't been touched in years. if you want a more detailed version of them, you'll need to look else where

Hi there~ this is for the Philippines.

So i basically made a male version of Primrea. Originally designed in 2013 by my friend Michelle Oblefias. She told me that she cannot continue anymore and ed on the continuation to Kyoren (Yes, the taiko player). It was originally his concept which led to the making of this 2014 revision. I named him Kyoren because i used Kyoren's real life features like hair and etc. Made in 4 days on bond paper, and edited the sun osu! logo and stars via photoshop. It turned out pretty well

here's a 600x914 size. For now this is the most forum and quality friendly i can go.

I'm happy to see that the entries so far are so diverse! I think I see at least one of each of what I was hoping to see, we have Pippi dressed in regional clothing, Pippi visiting other countries, some symbolically global art, a few appearances from Primrea, and even a couple of new international mascots already. Keep them coming, everybody! Surprise me!

I would suggest keeping their appearances in fanart contests minimal, or stylize them your own way like this design does: http://market.ppy.sh/?productid=7540522 because we do want to avoid making use of copyrighted character designs. So I won't ban them from this contest entirely (since they do fit well with the global theme) but I would suggest making up your own details to keep them more as homages :p
