The Chart Assembly Team (CAT) is currently looking for volunteers! The CAT is responsible for selecting maps for the monthly and themed charts. We are looking for dedicated and active who have the confidence and judgement required in order to nominate, vote, and criticize maps for these charts.

Some basic information to know before applying:

1. No modding experience is required, but it is a plus. We are primarily looking for with a good amount of playing experience; however, modding shows that you have the ability and experience on judging maps, which is a essential part of what the CAT is responsible for.
2. Actively play maps, especially new ones! Monthly chart picks are chosen from maps that were ranked in the most recent month. Themed chart picks are chosen from maps that fit a specific theme which is chosen by the CAT staff.
3. You do not have to have experience in all modes. Being active in just one mode is sufficient, but the more the better.
4. We are looking for osu!mania applicants as well. Maps for this mode will be included in the next chart.
5. Be friendly and open-minded to the people around you; it's an important part of being cooperative on a team like this.

If you are interested in applying, you can do so here. Afterwards, send me a forum PM with the subject line: "CAT Application Verification." The forum PM requirement is to prevent others' from applying for other s, so please don't forget to do so as it is mandatory.

Application deadline: June 1st, 2013 at 00:00 UTC
New will be announced at the same time the June monthly chart is released (which is approximately June 14th)

Again for everybody: "Are you a bot?" has to be answered with "No". It is just a secure that only individuals sign up for the CAT.
This is also no competition, try to describe yourself the best you can and why you think you are suitable for the CAT! Also do not think that the number of CATs we can take is limited for now.

I don't think that Modding experience will be something very important but it helps of course. And I guess o!m CAT won't be that easy to pick out since it also depends on the activity in the forum. inb4 Hanyuu as CAT

You need to be active in the Ranking Chart Forums after you have been added to the CAT. How active you are elsewhere in the forum doesn't matter too much. But a bit of forum activity can be a good point to become a CAT anyway.

Alright, I'll be a bit more direct: It doesn't matter if you presently play new maps or not, but as you can tell, it is important for you to do this if you are added; nevertheless, if we see you currently actively play new maps, it will help us in choosing applicants.

Just do it and say in how far you want to improve and work on yourself. We won't neglect your application.
A small advice for everybody: Stop having those self-doubts. Just try as good as you can and you'll see if you're accepted or not. Always saying that you would not be suitable for the CAT just gives an image as if you have a little lack of self-confidence.

Well usually I can play osu! everyday but in summer/winter holiday I prefer to go out for traveling(but I think most of the hotels have accesses to the Internet)

im talking about the fact that simply anybody can knock on the door and apply for a place in the chart team. a team which was supposed to resemble quality. it's now just a random bunch of people gathered around who vote for the maps they like most (like it already was, i was in it), but that will now simply tremble down even further. it's just sad to see that happen.

I consider it's not a Problem to give new dedicated Players a chanche to help the Community

i think a better structured plan as what to consider a "quality"-map would be helpful

which factors are more important then other..

the Difficulty spread?

The Patterns?

the diversity of the different genre categories?

etc.

The minute you start to categorize maps in a chart on how ''good'' they are, is the minute you have accepeted objectivity within it. You cannot say a map is better than another map if it's purely opion based to begin with. That would makes this entire chart a hoax.

Then we'll go on in the process. When something is good, then it is. For if it's not, it's not. Sounds confusing, but it's fairly simple to comprehend. How 'good' a map is, is part of the map as entity. It's an attribute of that entity. The only real problem with trying to make the best damn possible objective based judgement is that it will always be clouded by your own opinion/view on things. That is exactly why it's important to establish a team of people who know what they are doing and dealing with; so they can discuss and end up with the best damn possible chart.

Keep it with a bunch of random people who vote for what they like rather than what is good, and you'll end up with bad charts.

GladiOol: Anybody can apply for CAT, but not everybody will be accepted. The selection process will take about 2 weeks, where I will carefully select a group of applicants for the CAT to discuss who should be in and who should not and why. Things have changed since you have left ;3

Also, I will say this again: It is safe to assume I got your verification PM. If I see that somebody sends in a application using the form and fails to send me a verification PM (and believe me, I'll know) then I will PM you myself to .

Only reason I ask this is because before my laptop died, I was playing like everyday. Now, I barely play as much since I'm borrowing another pc (a.k.a. playing while the pc owner is sleep).
