Many years ago, the great overlord, peppy found this wasteland that we now call “OT”. He brought some inhabitants with him, which are known as 1st Gen Denizens in OT history. After that, players come and left, creating newer generations as time ed on. The newest generation is 7th Gen, which I am a part of.
As someone that ed OT in mid-2020, I can clearly see how things have changed. A lot of people who used to have fun with all the other OT , such as Jonarwhal, GPR, Foxi, etc., are now gone. There has been a significant lack of activity and quality going on, ever since March 2021.
People who are a part of OT began posting less and less, myself included. I used to make at least 20-30 posts a day, but now I just make about 5-10. But why?
Personally, I think the main reason is the great lack of threads that are interesting, fun, and engaging. Those are the threads that really brought liveliness to OT. They are the souls of OT. They are the lore. Nowadays, there are just about 0 threads that make up the OT lore. We must do something about it.
Now, go back to the main page of OT. What do you see? It's mostly garbage threads. This place has turned more and more into a pile of garbage instead of a lively world. There's close to no threads that actually bring OT together. OT is falling apart.
I don't write text walls for the sake of writing text walls. Now, how can we save OT from the fate of turning into quite literally, a garbage dump? My suggestion would be to start more community projects for everyone to participate in, and most importantly, to have a good time with fellow OT . Right now, I'm not really having any good times. I think a lot of people think that too.
I thought of leaving OT for once and for all. However, I can't just leave this place that once made so many of my days great. JAB's kindness and friendliness really warmed my heart, and he was a great friend to have. But now, he doesn't post that often nor does he hug often. The OT lore just isn't the same anymore, with so many people slowly fading away from OT. I just can't let it be like this.
I'm not that much of an activist, but we really need quality threads. Abraker said, it's the lore that makes OT active. But what is the essence of lore? What makes “lore” so important?
My idea is that it's about the enjoyability and long time span of lore that really makes OT active. People don't come here to see useless “hello” threads. People come here to enjoy their time and relax themselves by participating in current events. In my mind, the key traits about lore that bring OT together is:
1. Compatible. Everyone should be able to participate.
2. Enjoyable. Everyone should enjoy the event.
3. Durable. The time span of the event should be long enough.
4. Inspirational. The event should be something that is new and interesting.
5. Friendly. The event shouldn't involve insults to other OT .
That's my suggestion on how to make OT rise again.
I think 8th gen has already begun ever since March.
If I do ever leave though, I hope this forum will become one of my greatest memories. Maybe I'll even come back some day. Thanks for all the happiness and joy that you guys brought me in the past months.
